Chp. 3 Roxane

I knew something was up when Lizzie showed up at the after party of the game. Our team had won the regionals just as summer vacation was rolling around the corner and Frank Zhao, the team's lead running back, was throwing a party to celebrate. Everyone was invited, even the nerds and death freaks.

[No offense to goths and ... sorry I don't know what else to call it but nerds, my apologies.]

It was an amazing party everyone was having a good time. Only one problem, Gregor one of the guest of honor, was missing. As his best friends Lucas and I were recruited to finding the bear wrangler. That is until we did find him with his little sister talking in the garden outback. I would have just walked up to them but Lucas wanted to be nosy and roped me into it, not that it was hard to do anyways.

"I still can't believe your theory was correct. Is it really possible to get back?" That sounded like Gregor. What are they talking about, get back to where, New York?

"Maybe, there's no guarantee that we'll make it back, too many variables but I've found the entrance." What are they talking about now are they planning to explore a cave. Gregor did mention visiting his family farm when he was younger maybe they found a cool cave.

There was a pause for a moment. Maybe Gregor was thinking about what Lizzie said.

"I'm going. Summer is next after this weekend we can both say that we're staying at a friend's as an excuse to give us a ...." He suddenly stopped and the two started whispering while moving away from where Lucas and I were hiding.

"Crap did they spot us?" Lucas hissed.

"Doesn't matter we still got to bring mister hero back to the party we can question him later." And with that we got up and from our crouched position behind a hedge in the garden and approach the two conspirators. I shouted,

"Yo, Gregor, Lizzie what you talking about?"

"Nothing, what's up? Need something?"

"Yeah you, you idiot or did you forget that you're the guest of honor tonight?" Lucas replied to our friend's stupid question.

"Sorry about that. Liz I gotta go we'll talk later. Get home safe ok."

"Don't worry it's still light out and our house isn't so far from here but we gotta finish talking later ok?!" Wow! what's with the stern tone you would swear they're hiding something. I mean seriously they could use a 101 course on subtlety.

"Ok, let's get back to the party guys." And with that we went our separate ways Lizzie went home and our merry little group went back to the party man I wish I knew what our future held back then so I could stop myself from listening to Lucas the next day.
