Chapter 3
Sebastian
I let myself into the apartment. Dantea’s apartment. I was resourceful. She would learn this about me. First I got Nina’s phone number from Dominic. Then I called Nina who was still with Jase Allen and found out where Dantea lived. She volunteered the information on how to get into her apartment should she not answer the door. Dantea had a secret key and I knew where it was hidden not that I knocked very hard before retrieving the key from its hiding place.
Not surprisingly, Dantea was not in her living room. I didn’t call to her. Years in Spain’s Special Operations Command unit had given me the ability to go undetected through many situations. I walked silently through her living room, an open floor plan with a solid, dark wood island that separated the kitchen from the living area. Up the five or so stairs that led to her bedroom. A platform that overlooked the living area. Only a panel giving privacy to the bedroom.
Dantea was still in her bed. Her sleeping form evident beneath the comforter on her bed. I slid onto the bed and she started to struggle beneath the comforter. I had scared her. I covered her mouth to keep her from screaming. Then her eyes opened fully and she could see that it was me. She stopped struggling so I removed my hand from her mouth. I kissed her then. Cupping her face in my big hands. I kissed her hard. There was nothing tender in my lips on hers. I wanted her to know who was in command in this relationship. That was me. When I released her I stared into her eyes.
“You don’t leave until I tell you that you can leave,” I repeated what I had texted her, without breaking eye contact.
“Or what?” Dantea asked softly.
She liked to challenge me now that we were not part of the club. I grabbed Dantea’s arms roughly in a firm grip. My tone sounded threatening but my eyes I knew they said something different to her. I would never hurt Dantea. She knew that. We liked to tease each other.
“I don’t think you want to find out Dantea.” My lips barely brushed hers. “Now get dressed. I’m taking you out.”
She didn’t argue. Dantea got out of bed and walked naked to her bathroom downstairs to shower. I raised my eyebrows at her as I enjoyed the view sitting on the edge of her bed.
Then I surprised her by taking her to the zoo. I was casually dressed in jeans and a black tee shirt so Dantea had dressed casually in a blue jean skirt and white tee shirt. Luckily she had worn comfortable shoes too since we were going to be a doing a lot of walking.
“I can’t remember the last time that I visited the zoo. Although I love the idea,” she told me as we walked through the entrance. She was amazed that I would want to do this. I wanted to show her there many more sides to me than the one she had seen at the club.
We arrived just in time for the giraffe feeding so we walked to Giraffe Ridge first. The tall, graceful animal walked up to Dantea standing on the feeding deck with her hand stretched out to the willowy animal. She wasn’t afraid. Dantea held her hand out offering it the food she held in her palm. The giraffe’s tongue, long and black extended out to take it from her, startling her for just a moment.
I chuckled softly watching her spellbound by the amazing animal and the woman. She touched the giraffe’s nose gently while he took the food from her hand. Dantea turned towards me. Her eyes nearly as wide and round as the giraffe’s eyes it seemed in that moment because she was so excited.
“Did you see its eyes Sebastian?” she asked, her voice soft and filled with wonder. “They are so beautiful. Large and lazy.”
I hadn’t missed anything about the experience with her and the giraffe. She was like a child excited and barely able to contain herself. Her deep dark eyes sparkling with excitement.
