~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Light shown through the window of Jake's room. His curtains had been left open since he'd left for Tipiska and he never bothered to draw them shut after returning. Jake and Tom were still asleep on the full xl bed. The clock on Jake's bedside table currently read 10:30 AM.
Tom's POV
I woke up slowly feeling stiff all over. I sat up, fixing my hair a bit before stretching my arms out. I crossed my legs and looked over at the small digital clock on the nightstand beside me. It was a bit later than I'd expected to wake up though it'd made sense. I looked over at Jake, thinking about the past weeks at camp Tipiska. So much had happened in what felt like such little time. It was almost a wonder how we were together so fast. My thoughts were interrupted by Jake grabbing my hand as he woke up. He looked up at me with his brown eyes. In the light they almost looked like dots of rich dark chocolate. He gave me a tired smile as I ran my free hand through his soft shaggy hair. It was a nice break from all of the chaos I had been put through. Though this break only gave me anxiety that it would end, leaving me to go back to my missions.
"Tom?" Jake's sleepy voice shattered the silence around us and he sat up. I could tell he saw straight through my blank expression as he cupped my face. He kissed my forehead and let go of my face, getting up from the bed. "C'mon. I'll make something for breakfast." He offered before opening his bedroom door and walking out into the upstairs hallway. Just like any unfamiliar building, Jake's house almost felt like a small maze. Despite this I followed him downstairs and into the kitchen. His kitchen wasn't too big, there was a small island table that separated it from the dining room. Jake pulled out a pan and carton of eggs before smiling at me. I would've offered to cook instead though that would've been a little weird since this isn't my house. I sighed and sat myself down at the kitchen island as I watched Jake cook. A few minutes later he had set down two plates of eggs and sat next to me. "I hope scrambled is ok." He looked a bit nervous. I nodded and picked up the fork he'd given me.1st Person
Tom and Jake had finished eating and gone upstairs to change clothes. As Tom pulled his shirt on something felt off. It'd been so nice, almost too nice for him for a while. Something was gonna happen eventually he knew it, and he hated that he knew it. He pulled on a pair of fingerless gloves and put a spare mask on, pulling it down around his neck comfortably. He was so caught up in his thoughts that he didn't notice Jake walk back into the room. Tom jumped a little, feeling Jake put his arms around Tom's waist and rest his head on Tom's shoulder. "You ok?" Jake turned his head a little to look at Tom. "Yeah! Yeah. Just paranoid is all." Tom admitted, looking out the window. It was nice outside, nice enough that Jake had opened the window in his room. Jake let go of Tom and went to close his door. Birds could be heard through the steady rustle of leaves outside making the air feel light around the two. Tom sighed, watching Jake take the doorknob. Something broke through the silence, a knock from downstairs. Jake stopped, looking at Tom who's eyes looked back.
The two made their way downstairs and Jake opened the door, poking his head out to see who it was. His eyes widened and he pulled his head back inside to look at Tom. "Who is it?" Tom asked, pulling his mask over his nose. Jake put a hand up to signal for Tom to be quiet. Tom nodded before Jake motioned for him to go back upstairs to Jake's bedroom. The blue ravenette poked his head back outside leaving the other boy to do as instructed with confusion.Jake's POV
I motioned for Tom to go upstairs before looking back outside. Dread hung over my shoulders as I saw my parents had come back for their trip. I honestly hadn't paid much attention to where they said they were going but I had heard it would've been at least a month before they returned. Thing is, a month hadn't passed yet so what were they doing back home? I opened the door for them to come inside and I watched as my mom glared at me before setting her luggage down. "We came back as soon as we saw your face on the television. What are you thinking?!" Awe hell. This is just great.
