My eyes snapped open as I heard the sound of a gong ringing loudly.
I heard Kalyn shriek and roll off the top bunk. I facepalmed."That's the training gong. We better get ready," Nya told us as Molly helped Kalyn up. I changed into a dark purple t-shirt, gray sweatpants and light gray tennis shoes.
I pulled my hair into a ponytail and saw that the others were dressed like wise (except for the purple t-shirt, they had their corresponding colors). Liv had her blonde hair up in a braid, Hannah had her dark hair in a high ponytail, Molly had hers in a bun, and Kalyn curled her hair and put it in pigtails.
We all walked down to the deck together and the ninja were waiting for us. "What took you guys so long? We've been waiting her for like fifteen minuets!" Kai yelled. I rolled my eyes. "Sorry, it was my fault. I couldn't find a good t-shirt," Liv lied.
Liv was always covering for all of us and it made me mad at them. They just expect her to do it for them and they don't even say thank you. It drives me insane. "I-It's alright. It's your first day and I remember how that was for me," Jay said stepping up. "This is your only warning," Cole said as Sensei came out of the door. "Oh, Shush Cole. If Sensei was like that to us, we would be long gone," Jay told him with a smile on his face. Liv smiled at him. 'Thanks' she mouthed to him as I crossed my arms.
"When do we get our ninja suits because I want to
be-dazzle mine and I need to know what color not to order," Kalyn asked Sensei. I rolled my eyes. "And what exactly are we the ninja of?" I asked and listened to what he replied. "Actually, I get them on Monday. So, until then, all of you will train together and with your golden weapons. For Olivia, the Whip of Light, for Molly, the Mourning Star of Creatures, for Kalyn, the Throwing Knives of Nature, for Samantha, the Katanas of Storms, for Hannah, the Bow of the Sea, and for Caleb, the Spears of the Wind," he said while handing the weapons to us. I had to admit, I liked the feeling of the katanas in my hands."Today, we will begin simple training," Sensei started. "You need to be in excellent physical shape and mental shape to defeat the Serpentine. So until then, you will all train together," Liv and Jay smiled at each other and I frowned at them. We all started our own thing and I went to a punching bag. I wrapped my knuckles in a cloth wrap. I plugged in my head phones and begun punching.
With each punch, the bag swung forward and back at me. I put all of my rage of being fired, having to take extra classes, and moving out of our house to this new place into each fist. After about twenty minuets, I stopped and got a bottle I water. I turned around to see Kai and Cole staring at me. "What?" I snapped. The boys blushed red. "N-Nothing," Kai muttered. " It's just that, I've never seen someone so... determined," Cole told me. I smirked. "It's about time that changed,"
I walked over to Liv, who was stretching out her limbs. "Hey, wanna come on a run with me?" I asked her while stretching out my arms. "Yeah, sure. Just let me get my music," she said as she ran into the Bounty. She ran back out carrying her phone and earbuds. "Ok, I'm ready," she said as she put her phone in her pocket."Where do you think you're going?" Kai asked while putting his hands on his hips. "Oh, we're just going out for a run," Liv told him as I crossed my arms. "Well, I can't let you guys go alone. You need supervision," I rolled my eyes. "If you wanted to come with us, you could of just asked,"
Kai blushed scarlet. "Oh, um, t-that's no w-what I-" "Save it and get your music," I told him as he rushed off towards the Bounty entrance. "I think a run would do us all good," Sensei told us and the ninja nodded. "Definitely. It's been a while since I really worked these babies," Jay said while shaking his leg. Liv giggled at him as Nya's voice came over the intercoms. "Okay, first stop, Ninjago City Park."
***Once we had landed, we all started to stretch out our muscles.
"Should we make a bet on this?" Kai asked." Last one there is a rotten ninja?" Jay suggested. "and they have to clean up the dragon's keep for a week," Cole added. We all nodded in agreement. We lined up at a line drawn in the dirt. "On your marks, get set, go!" Sensei yelled as we took off. Kai, Zane, Hannah, Cole, and I were neck and neck as we raced down the pathway.
Hannah must have tripped on a rock or something because, she fell flat on her face. Zane stayed behind and helped her up, allowing the others to catch up. Kai, Cole and I sprinted the last lap. "Hey.... does anyone... know where... the... finish line.... is?" Cole asked in between breaths. Darn. I hadn't thought of that. "Just.... Keep running... till someone... tells us.... to stop," I told them pushing my limits and sprinting ahead of them. "Hey!" They yelled as they tried catching up with me. I mentally laughed and took a short cut through the forest.
I made it back to where Sensei was waiting. He was quietly sipping his tea, while waiting for us to finish. "Done already?" He asked me. I smiled still out of breath. "Yeah...I know...a short cut," I said with a smirk. "Smart. Tea?" I shook my head and grabbed a water bottle out of a cooler that was waiting there for us. I chugged the water down and sat next to Sensei. We waited there for a couple of minutes before we saw Kai and Cole sprinting side by side.
They both got here at the same time and were arguing about who got there first. "It was so me! I totally beat you!" Kai yelled. "It was clearly me! I made it like five seconds before you!" Cole yelled back. I rolled my eyes and cleared my throat. The boys looked at me in shock. "Oh. Uh, hey Sam, when did you get here?" Kai asked me while rubbing the back of his neck nervously. "Like five minutes before you guys even came close," I say handing them both water bottles. "So.. does that mean I'm the fastest ninja?" I asked boastingly. "J-Just shut your mouth," Kai grumbled. I smirked as we waited for everyone else.
The next people to show up were Hannah and Zane. But that wasn't what surprised me. It was the fact that they were holding hands. I looked at them questionably but didn't say anything. The next people were Molly, Nya and Caleb, and then Kalyn. "Where's Liv?" I asked her once she caught her breath. "And Jay," Cole added. Kalyn smiled a mischievous smile. "Oh, I may or may not have seen them behind a tree," she said as her eyes reached the sky. I rolled my eyes and started jogging down the trail.
After a few minutes of jogging, I could see two figures in the distance. I ran up to them and saw that it was indeed, Liv and Jay. "What happened? Are you okay?" I asked frantically while checking her face. "I'm fine. I just tripped over a tree root and twisted my ankle," she said with a wave of her hand. "Don't do that! You scared the bejesus out of me," I told her. "It's not like I can control when I twist my ankles, Sam," she said while rolling her eyes. "It's not funny! I really thought I lost you! Your the only sister I have! Your irreplaceable," I yelled at her. She frowned at me. Jay looked like he didn't know what to do with himself. I sighed. "Sorry, you just scared me. I thought I lost you," I apologized. "Well, that's not even possible because you're always hovering over me. I can never make any choices by myself! You're too overprotective! You always have something to say about every little thing I do!" Liv yelled at me. I scoffed at her. "I'm sorry I care about you!" I hissed. She didn't move. "Find your own way back," I snapped at her before I started jogging back to the bounty.
***"Did you find them?" Kai asked when I got there. "Oh, I found them alright," I said between clenched teeth as I ran up the bounty steps. I walked straight up to the punching bag and started releasing my anger. I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I lost Liv. Just thinking about it made my chest hurt. I felt a hand go on my shoulder and I slowly lowered my arms. I turned around to see Kai standing there just looking at me. I couldn't take it anymore. I collapsed in his arms and the tears started pouring out.
After a few minutes, I felt it starting to rain and soon it was pouring. "Hey let's get you cleaned up," he told me in my ear as he started leading me towards the bounty door. He brought me to the infirmary and sat me down on the bed. He walked to the cabinet and started pulling out, alcohol and gauze. I was starting to wonder what for when I glanced at my hands. My knuckles were bleeding and bruised. I guess I forgot to wrap then up again. Kai came back over and started cleaning up my wounds.
"Hey...Thanks. You really didn't have to do this," I said quietly. "It's fine. I wanted to. Plus, I couldn't let them get infected. Your a ninja now, and ninja stick together," he said while wrapping them up. I looked up into his amber eyes. We started getting closer until our lips touched. After we pulled away, our foreheads rested on each other's. "That was.." "Amazing," One thought ran into my head.
'Maybe being a ninja wasn't so bad after all.'
