I kept walking through the dirt path with my mind wandering off to it's own world, thinking of all the stuff thats been happening lately.

Life has been treating me harsh lately. I know it might sound like a teenager rant but the fact is I am life's favorite punching bag. I don't know if things will get better anytime.

Walking ahead my head bangs into something firm yet soft. I look up to see my buddy Sam, standing firmly with a concerned look.

"I think we agreed that you won't think of any stuff on this little trip of ours."

"I'm sorry but it's a bit tough not to, you know." I say. If only he knew how it's eating me up.

"It's gonna be okay Shruu, with time you will forget everything. So cheer up and live in the moment", says Sam as he starts walking again.

Samael Morningstar, is the only friend I think I have got. Everyone who I trusted, who I believed were my friends, who I thought will never leave me, well they not only left me but betrayed me so bad, I still haven't recovered completely.

I push the thought to back and put up a smile so Sam won't notice. We walk for half an hour more when Sam announced we have arrived. I look around and see we are near a edge of a mountain with a beautiful view of setting Sun beyond horizon. The soft breeze bringing the sweet fragrance of flower and forest calms my nerves as I close my eyes soaking it all in.

"Beautiful isn't it? "

I turn around to see Sam has dumped our stuff and is working on setting up a tent at safe distance on the grass near the sweet smelling flowers.

"Yeah, it is. But again why are we here? "

"To help clear your mind and a Sam's special surprise "

"What surprise?"

"You'll know soon enough."

I shrug and watch him set up the tent with thick blankets for floor two different sets of blanket pillows and everything needed.

Looking at it made me realise just how tired I, not just physically but mentally too.

"Hey Sam" I call out "Mind if I take bit of rest? "

"Not at all, Go ahead, I'll fix something up for the night till then"

I slip in under blankets, the view of sun setting beyond the horizon, orange light spreading over the city. The cool air of autumn made me shiver as I tighten the blankets around me.

Soon I drift off in an unpleasant dream. Unpleasant flashbacks of everything that has happened replayed in my head

The betrayal, the hurt playing on repeat started to bother me too much, when suddenly I hear someone call my name.

"Shruu, hey wake up, it's alright, everything is fine"

I feel the blankets and pillow being replaced by a strong chest and arms wrapping around me. Soothing me.

I open my eyes to find myself in Sam's arms, with tears rolling down my face. Sam wipes them, concern all over his face.

" It's alright, you are safe. Calm down "

"I -I'm okay, sorry, I - It was just a bad dream.. I'm sorry for worryi... "

"Shhh there is nothing to be sorry for, I'm here for you anytime you want to talk bout it"

"Thanks " I say as I get up, smiling weakly.

Walking out of the tent I see it's dark already, there's a small bonfire set up near some logs with some instant noodles and drinks.

I guess I slept for too long.

Just then Sam appears behind me. Speaking in heavy fake british accent

"Ready of the lavish dinner My Lady"

I burst out laughing at how ridiculous he sounded. I look at him still smiling and notice a flicker in his eyes... As if an emotion just passed through them.

I am about to ask him if he is okay when he takes the lead and starts serving the 'lavish dinner'.

We eat in silence, enjoying the starry night, overlooking the city, bustling with life. The light from buildings and road felt like a swarm of tiny fireflies.

My thoughts again start drifting off to my pity self. When one's heart and trust is hurt one repeat too many time, the wounds hurt more than one can imagine.

My chest tightens up thinking of everything and everytime I have been betrayed and hurt.
I feel my eyes burning and knew the waterworks were coming. I didn't want to bother Sam anymore.

Putting aside my empty bowl, I walk off towards the edge, tears spilling from my eyes.

I stand near the edge, shivering slightly when suddenly I am engulfed in warm and strong arms from behind.
