The phone kept ringing and yet Jacob still never picked it up. he cautiously picked it up.
"H-hello?" He said. "I'm trying,"
He got up and walked out of the room, I was still able to hear his side of the conversation. "He doesn't get them until tomorrow," he said. ". Won't get my batch until Tuesday at least,"
"Yeah, well screw you, Col," he screamed. "I'm not yours anymore, remember that," and he walked back in the room threw his phone in his pocket, smoothed his shirt down and sat in the bed.
"Exes, eh." He said trying to laugh it off.
"Only had one," I said. "For only an hour,"
"Oh, I'm sorry," he sidled over and out an arm around me. "What happened,"
I took a deep breath. "I accidentally cheated on him," I said slowly. "I was unconscious and as I was coming to his teammate was giving me CPR and I though it was him and kissed him," I rushed the last bit as if it were a race to get them out.
"Oh," he pulled me in tight. "When was this?"
"Today about two hours ago,"
"Oh, sweetie," he pushed my head into his chest, there was definitely some muscle there.
"Can I ask a quick question." I asked. He nodded. "What accent is that?"
"British," he said. "I've never stayed in a place long enough to get the real accent so it mixes with all the other ones," he chuckled.
I smiled brightly. "There's a party tonight," I said. "You can come if you want."
He smiled and three hours later we rolled up to the party, I wore a black shirt and trouser combo and Jacob wore a white shirt and black trousers. As we walked in an orange leaf fell from a leaf and fell into Jacobs shirt pocket. He saw it and proceeded into the house.
"You came," a voice behind us rang out above the loud music. "And who is this?"
"Jacob," he said. "You can call me Jacob," he said laughing.
"What do I call you?" I asked.
"Jake, Jay, Coby," he said. "Maybe boyfriend at one point,"
We were handed two drink cups and we both began sipping out of them. Alcohol tasted weirdly nice. Four cups later a song turned on. "21 Guns" by Green Day. I used to listen to Green Day all the time, it was John's favourite band and this was his favourite song.
"I love this song," Jake said. "What about you?"
I nodded. Jacob and I had only met three hours ago and yet there was no awkwardness in the air. It felt as though I had known him from years. I felt a rush come from my stomach and I ran to the bathroom.
"Are you okay?" Jake asked from the other side of the door.
I unlocked the door and walked out into the party. "Can we go home," it was eleven o clock. The last bus would be passing soon so we ran as fast, as we can. The bus just pulled up and we arrived home safely. Before we left at the bus stop, I kissed Jake on the cheek and ran off into the night. Right where my mum stood, arms crossed.
