Chapter 6 - Open Arms

Saaya's P.O.V

While I have to admit that I like his character.... It's probably just the fatigue getting to me when I get thoughts like this....

Dear me....

I was always used to handling the shop alone, but with him around....

Sure, more manpower means there's less for me to think about. So I'd assume that I'll be able to relax a little bit more.

But...

He somehow gets me more tired than when I'm working alone....

But not in a bad way.

He was like a kid in a candy store back there.

He adored everything and everyone around him. He enjoyed what he was doing, he probably didn't even have the time to be tired.

I'm surprised he hasn't collapsed.

"Oh my... I'm probably gonna get a lot of rest after all of this is done... I'm feeling rather weird tonight after all...." I said to myself as I was preparing tea for the two of us to share.

After preparing it, I immediately went back to our table.

But I saw him there, collapsed. And was sound asleep like a child on a cradle.

"Isn't he cute? C'mon!"

"It'd be nice if someone new were to work here!"

"I hope he gets the job!"

I went upstairs to bring him a blanket. He'd catch a cold if I don't cover him up.

As I was covering him up, I started to notice features on him that I wouldn't normally notice.

"His shoulders are really broad...." I thought to myself.

Well.... he is a guy after all....

His eyelashes are long too!

And... his jawline!!

Wait a minute Saaya! What's gotten into you?! This is your co-worker! He's practically your junior!

Why are you instinctively glancing at his manliness while he's asleep?!

INSTINCTIVELY?!?!

But before I could go any further with my antics, my father had gotten home and opened the door to our shop.

"Ah! Welcome home dad!" I welcomed him.

He greets me back and immediately spots Anon sleeping.

"Someone knocked himself out like a light switch after working so hard all day!" I told him.

"Well, I was expecting that much from him after all." He said.

"He can take the day off tomorrow, he'll start the day after." He added.

Wait what? Did I just hear that correctly?

"Wait dad, so you're saying that he passed?" I asked.

"There was no test from the start." He mentioned.

What?

"I went to speak to his father about this. He and I go back quite a bit, even way before your mom was hospitalized in a hospital he runs." He told me.

So he knew that???

"He's mentioned before about how badly he wanted his son to follow his steps in the future. So I had to speak to him when I found out that he wanted to pursue baking instead." He added.

No way...

"He understands that he's been harsh to his son. The kid left the house and is currently living on his own just so he can pursue what he's always dreamed of." He said.

"And of course, he didn't like this. But he doesn't plan on fully shunning him out. He asked me to look after Anon-kun for him. As much as he wanted him to take up medicine.... he still can't leave his son alone. That man.... I don't understand him!" He said.

So..... he's been going through something like that huh.

"So when he popped up in our shop, I was already thinking of hiring him. But got ahead of me, so I tried testing him without really testing him. The moment he accepted my challenge, I've already hired him." He concluded.

"Oh... that story wasn't very happy... But I'm glad he can finally work here!" I replied after a long silence.

I also noticed that he had a bag on him.

"So, what's with the bag?" I asked him.

"Oh, since I already did hire him. I went out to get his customized apron. You have one too don't you? Now, you're matching! Isn't this cute??" He said.

He then showed me the adorable looking apron design that matches mine.

I have a name embroidered on mine, and it seems like he has one on his too.

"I'll give him the good news when he wakes up then. You can head up and rest for now!" I offered.

"Well then, I guess I'll take you up on your offer." He said.

And with that, it was just me and a sleeping Anon all over again.

As soon as he wakes up, he immediately starts to panic.

"Huh??? Was I out?! I'm sorry!!" He said.

"Calm down, it's alright. You worked so hard today after all, you deserve every bit of rest you'll take." I said.

"What's this... you even wrapped a blanket around me, that's a little embarrassing... but I appreciate it!" He said.

"Also... here!" I showed him his apron.

He probably didn't understand what this is so I had to explain.

"You got the job! Congratulations! After a day off tomorrow, you can start! I'm looking forward to working with you~" I told him.

Huh? Why is he so quiet???

I took a glance at him after lowering the apron that was blocking my vision.

He's crying?! Wait why?? Oh no... he looks so endearing right now too!

Wait but... ehh??? Does that mean he...

He then takes it off my hands and went in to hug me.

And that.

Caught me by surprised.

"Anon-kun....?" I asked what's up?

I can feel his difficulty in breathing.

His embrace was getting tighter.

I can feel his sobbing.

He's in an extreme state of accomplishment that it drove him to tears.

This man... is fully exposing his emotions. All on me.

Why is he like this?

He's so vulnerable right now...I.....

I wrapped my hands around him yo let him know that I understand why he's so happy and how happy he is right now.

"I did it... Saaya-san... I did it..." He cries.

This feeling....

Maybe, it isn't so bad after all...

"I know.... You did great...." I said.
