CHAPTER NINETEEN

After much thought, I decided to let her know that I'm now aware of the truth.

"W-what do you mean I'm Alexis?" She asked with her voice shaking.

Definitely guilty.

"I spoke to a private investigator about everything before the party Alexis! Enough lying! So let's just tell each other the truth and start afresh." I whisper yelled.

"I don't know what you're talking about." She stated.

I dipped my hand into my pocket and threw a crumpled piece of paper at her which fell to the ground.

She went down to pick it up and read it, she froze for a brief moment, probably thinking of the next lie she's gonna tell me.

"This doesn't prove anything!" She boldly declared.

"Oh really?! How is it that you Miss Mackenzie Poiner have been dead for almost six years now?" I asked her waiting to see what she wanted to come up with but she said nothing, absolutely nothing. She just stared at me feeling hurt.

"So yes Mackenzie is dead, how did I know that you were Alexis? Easy, you might have done a great job with covering up your history but definitely did a messy job with your sister's."

"Soph.."

"Ding! So how do you want to lie to me now?"

"Okay I lied, but I was trying to protect my heart! I couldn't let you hurt me again, I promised myself not to let anyone do that to me again."

"You saw how desperate I was trying to search for you! You knew I was looking for you but you said nothing! If I wasn't able to get hold of this information you would have continued to lie to my face! I didn't think you were capable of doing that, Alexis."

"I wa-"

"You know my heart kept telling me that you were the one, but I didn't listen. I got to know Mackenzie and I fell in love with her, which is YOU again! I trusted her and got to tell her about Alexis which by the way is also YOU. I made myself look like an idiot time and time again! You didn't want me to hurt you right? I think the way that'll work is if you just stay away from me and I from you, we can't hurt each other that way-"

"Wait Kyle, let me just explain something-"

"Before we part ways, is there anything else that you didn't tell me?" I slowly asked.

"No, but I wo-"

"That's okay miss Poiner, anything in regards to the wedding, discuss it with my fianceé. That would be all, excuse me." I quietly excused myself and left.

I always imagined our reunion to be happy and with happy tears, but never one that she'd be my wedding planner and that I'd ever find out such a thing about her. Alexis was many things but definitely not a liar, what happened to that sweet and innocent girl?

"Congratulations son!" My dad's voice broke me out of my thoughts.

"Thank you." I said as a reflex action and then it occurred to me what he was talking about.

"Wait dad! I didn't mean that, I mean it was a reflex action! I don't understand what's happening here with Penelope!" I tried to explain but my father looked at me with an elated expression.

"Where's Penelope?" I asked, wanting to find out from the source.

"In her bedroom, She suddenly felt unwell. I believe you already know where it is." He answered me with a wink.

I hurriedly went upstairs and straight to her room. I burst into the room and was hit with darkness.

"What tha-" She yelled as she turned on her bedside lamp and saw me.

"Penelope, what is all this?!" I yelled.

"I swear I didn't know that was his announcement. I was shocked as well."

"Are you trying to say that you are not pregnant?" I asked calmer than before but she didn't answer.

"Answer me Penny," I urged her and she took a deep breath.

"Yes I am pregnant!" She slowly admitted.

"And it's mine?" I asked,her eyes showing sincerity.

"Wait, do you think I'm unfaithful?"

"What? No! Not at all' I know that you are not like that, but you said nothing happened between us that night!"

"Well I thought so too, but I guess I was wrong! Okay?"

"Oh wow, my baby?!" I broke into a smile.

"Would you leave me alone for awhile? I need some rest." She requested and I granted her wish.

When I got home my family was ecstatic, they were all smiles. From my father to my mother to Emily. I was also happy but I felt I would have been happier if another person told me that news.

I took a shower and laid on my bed. All the events of today replayed in my head and I could do was sigh.

"I need to stop thinking about her." I said to myself.

Penelope is pregnant with my baby, it's not fair to her. I should also tell her about Alexis or Mackenzie and everything that happened between us to avoid future drama. I need to learn to love her because I won't let my child grow up in a loveless home. I will speak to her tomorrow and tell her everything and maybe see if the wedding can be pushed forward.

"Shit!" I mutter when I remember that I haven't been able to tell Ash and Brian about Alexis and Penelope's pregnancy.

I quickly rushed to my laptop to call them both. Seems they were working in unison because both of them answered almost the same time.

"Hey guys!" I greeted with a smile and they greeted back.

"Guys, I think I'm going to hire Miss Poiner to be my wedding planner because we've decided to get married next month." Ashton announced.

I never thought I'd hear the word marriage from Ashton, maybe Brian but definitely not Ashton.

"Congrats dude, but what the fuck? Why haven't you told us who she is yet?" Brian congratulated.

"Because it's a surprise, I was thinking about introducing you guys to her at Kyle's wedding." He answered and Brian went quiet.

"About Mackenzie guys, turns out that our suspicions were right, she actually is Alexis." I announced.

"So now you're calling off your wedding?" Brain asked.

"That's great bro. You found her!" Ashton congratulated.

"I'm not canceling the wedding, because now I have a better reason for marrying Pen." I told them.

"Which is?"

"What's the reason?"

"Turns out I'm going to be a father soon." I sheepishly said.

"Congrats bro!" Ashton congratulated again.

"Wait...Does that mean that..?" Brian asked, still trying to be certain about what I said.

"Yep. It means that Penelope is expecting my child and I'm going to be a father soon." I explained.

"What?!" Brian looked at me with concern and then disconnected.

"What's up with him?" Ashton asked me.

"Beats me." I shrugged before disconnecting.

Something's going on, something I can't quite figure out yet.
