I'm Mackenzie. I've always gone by Mac, but nobody ever calls me that, or anything really. I'm 'nameless' you could say.
I was born on June 11th, 2000. I'm 14, and I'm always looking for adventure.
But, I have no friends.

Zero.
Nill.
Zip.
Zilch.

I'm just that quiet girl who sits in the back of the room, barely listening to what the teacher is saying.

She doesn't even know my name, and I've gone to that school since I was 5!Same teacher. Same class. Same everything. And by everything, I mean EVERYTHING.

Every morning, I wake up and do the exact same thing each day. There is no room for mistake, error, or minor change. I put on the same clothes, use the same hairbrush, eat the same breakfast, everything. Nobody understands why, it just happens.

But today, was different. I made sure of it. Instead of walking on the pavement to Gemini Junior High, I walked on the gravel pathway, to the back wall.

I knew what I was doing, and I knew where I was going. I just knew.

Mac's POV

I scanned the wall for security, and quickly ran towards the small shack of security. I went under the window and listened to each word, phrase, and breath of the security guards. I needed answers. And i needed them now.

"You best make sure nobody crosses that wall. Nobody has, and nobody will. We are gemini's. We are right next to the Pisces." said the head security.

"What do you mean sir?"

"Gah! Do you know nothing?!" he exclaimed. Seemingly, he was very short tempered. "The zodiacs!"

"Excuse me?"

"THE ZODIACS!!" he huffed. "We are Gemini, the obvious superior. In the back are Pisces. On the right, Virgo. On the left, Capricorn. Need I go on?"

"No sir, but why must we stay separate?"

"Because, they," he said disgusted, "are dangerous. We don't know what they could do. We stay with our sign. Which is why we have special seasons. In around October/November, the season begins. That way, each child is born in the correct time period, Any mistakes, or any born otherwise, are executed. Cut off. Immediately."

'That's ridiculous.' I thought to myself. But I listened more, fascinated with the information.

"Well, sir, I can assure you nobody will ever see the other side of that wall." said the new guard.

--

They didn't seem to do a very good job at securing, or guarding, the wall.

I tossed my backpack on the grass in front of me, filled with equipment, that I thought I would need, but I don't see how a pool noodle would help, or even fit in my backpack to begin with.

I took out my black pocket knife from the zipper pocket and started carving away the cement between the bricks. Not my best plan. It made a loud scraping noise, attracting the security. I heard keys jingling, and quickly rolled over into the tall grass.

A stubby guy toddled out. He scanned, shrugged his shoulders, and left.

I needed a new plan.

I rummaged through the junk in my bag. I admit, I have absolutely no idea what I can do to quietly break a brick wall.

Then, it hit me. I pulled out a hammer and nail (knowing I would need everything possible when I packed my bag), and knew that it obviously wouldn't be quiet so I would have to move farther down.

I grabbed my stuff, and walked down the wall.

After walking for about 20 minutes, I stopped and set down all my stuff. I took my nail and jabbed it into the cement open between the bricks. Easier said than done. I ended up beating my nail with my hammer. Then, I hit the sides a little. It was a repetitive process.

'Middle, side, side. Middle, side, side.'

Then, my heart dropped into my stomach.

Not from nerves or pain, but excitement and relief. I would be the first person, ever, to see the other side. I made a hole just big enough for my eye, and peeped through it.

It was beautiful. Well, not exactly beautiful. It looked exactly like our sector, sad. Dull. Depressing. But the beauty I felt was the ability to see variety.

Then I heard a sound. A voice. It was deep.

'Hello?'

It startled me. I almost couldn't fathom words being I haven't talked to someone in years.

'H-hhhi.'

'Who and what are you?' he said.

'Mac, Gemini. And you?' I replied shyly.

'Cam. Pisces.'

I saw as he sat down and made himself comfortable.

'So, Mac, what's it like over there?'

Honestly, this question was extremely easy to answer. I didn't even think twice before saying, 'An inescapable hell.'

'I feel ya.' he replied. He broke away some of the brick and I got to see some of his face, as he saw mine. I have to say, he was pretty cute. He had brown hair, brown eyes, and an adorable crooked little smile.

He seemed stunned. 'what's wrong?' I asked quickly.

'Nothing now.' he said, flashing a crooked grin.

'Well that's good.' I said, smiling back.

'Yeah, hey listen. I have to go, meet me back here tomorrow. Please?'

'of course.' I agreed.

He stuck his hand through the hole. 'Promise?' he asked.

I took his hand and he held it tight. 'Promise.' I said.

He let go, said bye, and we parted ways. I walked home slowly, and went to bed without wasting any time. i skipped dinner. I lay in bed all night, waiting for tomorrow to come, unable to sleep. All that was on my mind, was his crooked little smile.

'Cam. I like that.'

----

Cam's POV

I couldn't sleep at all. All I could think about was her. She was gorgeous and downright adorable. Something about her, was just great. I know I just met her, but something clicked. Like, the moment I touched her hand, I felt it. It sent tingles up my spine, leaving me with goosebumps.

I know I just met her, but I immediately want to know all about her and be able to hold her tight. I just need to hear her voice that replayed in my head. She was just great. It wasn't a long conversation, but it was long enough. I just knew in that very first moment, that she was different.

I tossed and turned all night, I couldn't wait to see her again.

'Mac. I like that.'
