eddie was confused. he paced back and forth in the living room. millions of thoughts raced through his mind, but none of them were venom's voice.

instead of searching for answers, eddie walked to his room and fell onto his crumb-filled bed. he shut his eyes, got into the fetal position on his side and squeezed the pillow next to him. he wanted to sleep, to feel like he wasn't alive.

i drove them away, like i did with annie.

he felt hopeless, just as he felt after his break up with anne.

he even couldn't cry anymore. he was too dehydrated and tired to even think about it. so instead, he fell asleep.

eddie woke up with a dull migraine. he guessed it was from the emotional roller coaster last night. anytime he had a panic attack and cried, he would always feel like shit the next day, like he had the flu or an intense migraine.

fuck. i should probably take some medicine.

his inner voice was telling him to take care of himself but he ignored it. he felt that he deserved this pain for driving venom away again. eddie sat up in bed and rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. he shuffled to the bathroom, then to the kitchen and got a glass of water and finally sat on the couch. with the cup of water in his hand, eddie took a sip and reminisced on the events of last night. he was so confused.

how did they just disappear? are they still with me and just blocking themselves from home? why would they do that? i thought- they said they loved me.

eddie's inner thoughts vibrated his brain and his vision went blurry. his ears rang and he felt his chest twist with anxiety and panic. just as tears began to emerge, the ringing stopped, he felt the pressure leave his head and his vision returned to normal.

"what-"

"got you, eddie!"

eddie jumped back with surprise as venom's head emerged out of his shoulder. he couldn't think of words. eddie only felt anger where sadness and loneliness used to be.

"we never left. we fix you. we needed to know how we would feel, emotionally, if we weren't together."

they wanted to test me? to test my emotions? WHAT THE HELL. eddie couldn't help but make a fist.

venom manifested arms to hug eddie around his stomach and continued, ignoring the anger eddie was feeling towards them. they sighed.

"we see now, that you need us. we need to stay together. as venom. as partners. forever."

silence.

"eddie. we know you are angry with us..." eddie looked up and stared at venom with dead-pan eyes. venom felt the tension building in eddie, but again, he ignored it and continued.

"...please explain why. we don't understand? we thought you would be relieved to be us again."

eddie's brown eyes ripped holes through venoms opalescent eyes. eddie spoke clearly and bluntly.

"i thought you died. i couldn't feel you. you were GONE and i was alone with my own thoughts." eddie paused to take a sharp breath. "then, you came back. i was so happy and i felt like myself again. you make me whole. after you..." he took a moment to decide how to words venom's confession last night. "...after you told me you love me, i didn't say anything because..." it reminded me of anne. she's the only person who ever said that to me and i knew she meant it. eddie hoped his other could hear this thought, but he also hoped they didn't hear anything he just said or thought. "i felt that you really meant it, and it scared me. i'm sorry i didn't say anything. i really am."

eddie...

his other's voice boomed in his head. venom's face was dangerously close to his and every time venom said his name, he could feel butterflies in his stomach. it was no different when their voice was projected in his mind.

"we always hear what you're thinking, even if you don't believe we are here."

"i know, but some things need to be kept private between us. like when you searched through my memories with anne."

"we were only trying to help you through your... what do you call it?"

panic attack. eddie thought.

"...panic attack! did we not help?"

"no!! you did!! it's just... it felt very invasive... i could almost feel you flipping through my memories like a scrapbook."

"we are sorry, eddie. next time, we will ask you what you want from us."

"thank you, babe. i accept your apology." eddie mind flashed memories of the times he called anne terms of endearment. he smiled, toying with the idea of using them with venom.

"babe? we are not a baby, eddie!! we are millions of years old!!" venom looked offended. eddie laughed and realized he now had to explain pet names to an alien. what had his life become?

eddie gave them a brief run down of the most commons pet names. venom agreed that they enjoyed using "babe", "love", "sweetheart" and "other" (they came out with that one, specially made for them and eddie). eddie decided that he didn't care what venom called him, as long as it was out of love. venom retracted himself back into eddie's body and he felt the surge of warmth curl up near his heart.

afterwards, eddie felt better. he actually felt like writing, after weeks of writers block.

"hey ve, i need to do some work, do you need anything before i start?" eddie said into an empty living room.

hungry.

of course, darling. eddie got up from the couch and headed to the kitchen. tendrils made their way out of eddie's body and opened the fridge. the tentacles grabbed a bag of frozen tater tots, milk and chocolate syrup.

tater tots and chocolate milk, the dinner of champions.
