I decided to wait until I was done with high school to finally get up off my as and land my first job. Turns out companies don't care about how well you did in school if you've never worked either. I got rejected by pretty much every job I applied for. Some shitty ones wanted me though. I was going to work at this food truck thing, but the man who ran it got arrested for— well... pictures. The second best option was a bit out of the way for me. It was a rig-shig locally owned pizza place. Promising pay though, I read in the papers that they could actually afford to outsource some of their equipment and supplies from bigger industry chains. Despite their horrendously long shifts, they pay was much better than any of the other options. Six dollars an hour.

I called them back to confirm that I would come in for my first shift, to my surprise, the owner of the place picked up. He remembered my name and voice, saying how excited he was to have me join the team, and that I should come talk to him during my starting shift on Monday. Needless to say, I was absolutely thrilled. Not only did I feel already acquainted with the owner himself, but it makes it easy for my future self. The sooner I can get raises and promotions, the sooner I can just leave the food industry behind.

I just wonder though, there was another man there too at the interview. I believe he was the co-owner. He didn't talk much to me, though he seemed very nice. He seemed more concerned about my prior experience in the workforce. I could tell he was off put that I didn't have any— I hope I don't disappoint him. I wonder if I'll ever see him again soon.
