Alexis awoke the next morning to the cool autumn wind against her face and some strong arms wrapped round her waist.
'Wait what?' She thought to herself. She didn't remember much from the night before, mainly because of how tired she was. It felt nice to wake up and have someone next to her, in that moment she didn't care who it was.
She nestled her head into the persons bare chest in an effort to stay warm against the cool breeze flooding in through the open window.
"You alright love?" The guy asked in his deep, scratchy morning voice. Instant butterflies.
'It's Niall,' Alexis thought as she heard the thick accent.
"Mhm hmm," she murmured, nestling her head further into him, now knowing who it was.
"Hey, you're okay, I've got you." He said, tightening his grip just a tiny bit. Hearing this caused a wave to crash over Alexis. 'I've got you' The exact same words she was told by the doctor that stayed by her side after her attempt. The same words that have played over and over in her head everyday since. And every time she thought of that, it made her want to relapse.
Without even knowing it, Alexis was crying. She tried to wipe the tears away before Niall noticed but she was too late. He sat up against the headboard and pulled her in close to his chest. "Hey, Lexi, it's okay. You're safe I promise." He said pulling her in closer, stroking he hair out of her face. "You're safe." He repeated.
Soon enough the tears stopped but the butterflies didn't. "Niall I'm sorry it's just something you said took me back to a bad memory. I didn't want to cry..." Alexis started before abruptly being cut off by Niall. "What was it that I said? I want to make sure I never say it again." He asked, wiping the remaining tears from her face. "I've got you," Alexis repeated, shuddering.
Niall pressed a kiss to her forehead before leaving the warmth of the bed and Alexis' arms and grabbed the same t-shirt he was wearing yesterday. He held out his head to Alexis, signalling for her to take it and follow him. "Niall, I don't think I should." Alexis protested.
Seconds later Alexis was no longer laying in her bed, she was being carried several meters from the safety of her bed. "I know things are bad right now but that doesn't mean you get to lie in bed all day. I mean it does but not now. Ugh you know what I'm trying to say. Anyways I'm making you pancakes :)" Niall said with a smile on his face.
Niall carried Alexis into the kitchen before setting her down on the worktop. He took an apron off the hooks at the far end of the kitchen, tying it around his waist, covering his chest. "Hey! Eyes up here young lady!" Niall giggled as Alexis snapped out of her thoughts.
Niall set to work, cracking eyes, mixing flour, adding milk then flipping them till they were golden and fluffy.
'God he looked so good.' Alexis thought to herself. 'No! I can't like him, he's my best mate!'
Niall smirked before plateing two pancakes for Alexis and three for himself. A sudden wave of guilt washed over Alexis as she took the first bite. "I know this is hard for you but I'm right here next to you, no matter what I'll always be here for you." Niall said as if he could read her mind.
Louis came down the stairs and joined the laughter filling the kitchen. After both Niall and Alexis had finished, Niall took the plates, placed them in the sink before disappearing upstairs.
"Soooo?"Louis asked.
"Soooo?" Alexis repeated.
"Number 1, you like him and number 2 how are you doing now?"
