Kissing Strangers

"Oh my god we forgot about Cass!" I hear my clearly drunk off her ass friend Diane giggle, as she and Kayla, my other friend stumble back over to where I'm leaning up against a wall. The house party hosted by one of the guys in the band we just saw, is in full swing. Everyone here is either stoned, drunk or both. I'm the only mostly sober one here. I've only had one drink, i have a long day tomorrow and I'd rather not be hung over. I sigh, what are they up to now?

All night they've been playing this truth or dare game and dragging me along. I mean yes I could say no, they'd probably move on rather quick that how drunk they are at this point but that's not in my nature. I'm competitive and hate being told I can't do something or the idea that something shouldn't be done. Plus all the dares have been pretty mild stuff,  like stealing someone's drink or pouring  beer in one of the vases. It's been harmless and fun so far, but they are WASTED beyond belief and all rules of etiquette and decency are always out the door once you mix in alcohol.

"What should I dare her?" Kayla asks no one in particular as she glances around the room, tapping her red nails to her chin. She's clearly trying to find inspiration from the room and people in it.

"How about nothing and she goes home." I suggest, look I'm not the type of friend to just abandon their drunk ass friends, what I do instead is try and entice them to leave with me.

"No one more! Then I promise you can leave." Diane bags, slurring her words.

"Okay fine, but if I do it,  you're going home too. Both of you." I tell them, like I said I like to entice them.

"Alright deal!" Kayla agrees, "Let's make this good then." She continues to look around until she suddenly stops a wicked smile appearing on her face. Oh no. What's she going to make me do?

"Do you see that guy over there?" Kayla points out into the crowded living room where several groups of people are smashed in. There are like three metal looking guys in a group laughing and drinking cheap beer,in the directions she's pointing, how am I supposed to know which one she means?

"I need a little more information."

"That dark haired guy wearing the shirt with the Slayer thing on it." She explains waving her hair around as she does so. "Ha slayer, wait aren't you roadieing for them?"

"Yeah tomorrow. That's why I want to get going." I remind her as I look back at the group of guys. Slayer shirt. Ah there he is, I think to myself as I spot him. He's got long flowy curly coffee colored hair, and a huge gorgeous smile. Handsome devil isn't he?

I've never met this man in my life, yet he looks familiar. He must be in one of the local Bay area bands. I mean he's got the look for it. I go to shows a lot and I don't always fully remember the bands. Why? Well I get very drunk sometimes, I'll admit it.

"Oh I see him now. What about him?" I ask, waiting for her to dare me to do whatever to this poor unsuspecting stranger. I have a strong feeling I'll regret  it later, but I'm going to do it, because I refuse to back down and I need these girls to go home.

"I dare you to walk right up and kiss him." Kayla dares me, that wicked smile from before returning to her lips. Ah shit. I should have guessed. It's so obvious.

I let out a big sigh, as I push myself off the wall and start making my way over towards this dude. Let's fucking get this over with, it's not like I'll ever see him again. The odds of that are slim, plus I'm going on the road for a few months so the odds are even slimer.

Once I reach him and his posy, his deep brown eyes flick up to me. I take a deep breath, it's now or never. He's about to say something to me, but I cut him off. I grab hold of his shirt and pull him forward making my lips meet his. It's brief, our lips only touch for maybe a second before I quickly pull back. Then I turn and bolt as fast as I can before he can ask any questions or grab me and stop me.

"Hey! Aren't you at least going to tell me your name?" I hear an unfamiliar male voice call after me, and I can only assume it's the guy I just kissed. I'm not turning back, and I'm not responding, I'm bolting and nothing is stopping me. Especially not my two drunk ass friends.

"We're leaving." I order, as I grab Diane and Kayla by the arm, dragging them along, them drunkenly giggling as I do so. At least someone finds this funny because you sure as hell don't.

I hate that I can't just turn down a bet, why am I so fucking competitive and defiend? God I'm so embarrassed right now, I just kissed a hot guy and ran like a weirdo. Thank God I'll probably never see him again, because if I ever do, it might be the death of me.

Tom's POV

"She's smoking hot!" Jeff exclaims,"Why the hell aren't you going after her?"

That's a good question. Why aren't I?

This mysterious woman with a streak of white in the front of her otherwise black hair, waltzed right up to us. At first I thought maybe she was going to chat one of us up, and I was going to try and make it me. She was striking with the hair and vibrant green eyes.  Before I could even get a word out of my mouth she grabs me by the front of my shirt and just kisses me. She fucking kissed me then ran off before i could even introduce myself.

I yelled after her the only thing I could think to say in my shocked state. "Hey! Aren't you at least going to tell me your name?"

She never responded, she never even turned around, just kept pushing forward, till she met up with two other women. They were both laughing and the mystery kisser grabbed them both by the arm and exited the house.

That's why I didn't chase her. She clearly didn't want to be chased and I'm not the type to chase down someone who doesn't want to be chased.

The obvious reasons she did that would be because she's drunk. This is a house party with lots of free beer, but she didn't seem drunk. I mean she had no issue running away in a straight line and just didn't act like a drunk woman would.

The other thing it could be is a bet, this seems highly likely. She did seem to be with two other girls, the ones she dragged out with her. And those girls seemed to think something was very funny, that would also explain the running away.

"I don't think she wanted to be chased." I shrug, answering Jeff's question. "I think that was some bet."  Let's be real none of this matters anyway, I'll never see her again, even though I really want to. I've never seen someone so uniquely beautiful before and it's a shame she just disappeared into the night.
