~ Chapter 3~It had been almost a month since that day in detention. Jamie and Marc had agreed to keep their relationship a secret for social purposes only. Jamie didn't want to be exiled from his friends and Marc didn't want to be made fun of with Jamie's crew. One day between classes, Jamie approached Marc with a smug smirk across his face. He came up behind Marc and covers his eyes from behind Marc's head. Then Jamie said,
"Guess what I got?"Marc hadn't the slightest idea.
"Umm... New hoodie?""No. Better. Two weekend passes to white water. Happy one month anniversary!"
Marc was so surprised. He had never been in a relationship where they celebrated occasions like this. He didn't know what to do besides hug Jamie, and he did. Jamie, of course, hugged back, taking a quick whiff of Marc's hair as he did. It smelled like pine. Coincidentally, Marc did the same to Jamie. He smelled like honey.
The week seemed to go by like molasses. It was Monday when Marc was surprised with the passes, and the passes were good on Saturday. When it was finally Friday, Marc and Jamie sat next to each other in the bus ride home. Marc was going to spend the nights at Jamie's house, and he had been looking forward to this since they had first planned it. Marc and Jamie were the last stop on the bus. At the second-to-last drop, once everyone else had gotten off the bus, Marc looked at Jamie and patted his thighs gently. Jamie slowly inched over and gently sat himself on Marc's lap. Jamie then slowly lowered his back against the window so his and Marc's heads were facing each other. Jamie pecked Marc's lips. Marc put his hands on each side of Jamie's face, a position all too familiar to them both. When the bus screeched to a halt, the two broke apart, grabbed their bags, and walked off the bus together. They walked towards Jamie's house, their hands playfully touching each other's as they walked. That night, they stayed up almost all night, playing xbox. Every time one of them died, the other one would stay to revive the other. After they had played Xbox for 6 hours, they decided to watch a movie. They ended up watching "If I Stay" when it came on on cable TV. Throughout the movie, they would gently kiss each other and tell each other how much they loved each other. Then, at the end of the movie during the credits, they fell asleep on the couch together. Marc laid across the couch, and Jamie spooned behind him. They slept perfectly soundly together. They had no blankets, but instead they cuddled in the warmth of the other.
The next morning, the woke up especially early, are an early breakfast, got dressed into their bathing suits, and left for white water.By the time they got to the top, Jamie was completely terrified. Once it was their turn to go down, Jamie was too scared to go by himself. He shuffled up to the edge of the slide and looked at Marc, who was standing behind him. Marc instantly read Jamie's look and saw he was scared. Marc came up behind Jamie and whispered into his ear,
"It's okay. We can go together."
Then Marc sat down at the edge of the tube and looked at Jamie. Jamie understood. He cautiously moved towards the tube and sat in between Marc's outstretched legs, face forward.
"On the count of three,"
Marc said, "one... two..." On two, Marc pushed himself down the slide, holding Jamie's waist to him to help comfort him. At the bottom of the slide, they ruined the perfectly still water as they crashed through. When Jamie stood up, he had an enormous smile across his face. Marc had helped Jamie overcome his fears of heights and drops. They continued going on super steep slides together until they closed. In all the waiting in lines, they had spent the time whispering into each other's ears secrets and gently rubbing each other's cheeks in their hands. At the end of the day, they dried off in the locker rooms. Because the lines for the showers were so long, they shared one, kissing each other under the water behind the curtain. After they had finished showering, they left the park and went home. That night, they made love for the first time, embracing in each other. From that night on, they agreed not to keep their relationship a secret anymore.
