Let's a time skip to my second year of Spy School when things get interesting again. I had spent the past year crushing on Joshua, sure that he didn't like me the same way I liked him until the night of the party. It's not often that spies get to throw parties, but as a star student and a bit of a rule-breaker, Josh decided to hell with it. It was 10 pm when I got the invite. I was sitting at my desk, doing a homework assignment for my ASP class when I got an email notification. I clicked on it and read the words to myself, my heart beating faster and faster with every word.

Meet me in the woods tomorrow night, midnight, for the most epic birthday bash you have ever been to. Don't tell anyone. -JoshuaI had been special enough to make it onto the list of invites! I excitedly jumped out of my chair, rummaging through my dresser to find something to wear other than the standard black outfit I had hundreds of and wore every day. I finally found a pair of black leggings and a dark blue halter crop top, stylish but flexible in case I needed to leap into action. I just hoped it would impress the hell out of Josh.

The next night I slipped into my outfit and put my hair up in a high ponytail before going out. I followed the faint sound of music to a clearing in the woods that Josh had decked out with streamers, balloons, lights, and a disco ball. Quite the extravaganza.
"Hey! Hale! Over here!" I turned to see the birthday boy himself standing by a table with snacks and some- beer cans? Hold up. I slowly walked over to him.
"Um... Hey. Happy birthday!" I smiled, hugging him. When I pulled back he held me at arm's length, looking into my eyes.
"What's wrong Hale?" he asked, almost tauntingly.
"Um, just, we're underage." I motioned to the beer. "also, this is a spy school. If we were suddenly attacked and we were all drunk, then we wouldn't be able to defend ourselves." Josh laughed.
"Hey, you don't have to drink it if you don't want to." I nodded, still feeling a little weird.
"I'm so sorry, I forgot to bring a gift." Josh shook his head.
"No, no. Don't be sorry. There is only one thing I want from you..." I could feel my face heating up. Could it be...? Josh leaned in, and I felt my heart explode with fireworks as his lips touched mine. My first kiss! When he pulled away I could feel a stupid grin spread across my face. I felt so happy. Little did I know at the time that I had just made a big mistake. I had let my guard down, let someone in. And I was going to pay for it big time.
