ameli's pov
She could hear the faint sound of waves splashing as the water hit the shore. She had lived most of her life in a house by the sea. A house that looks elegant from the outside but what's inside is completely contrary to what people assumed. There were clothes strewn everywhere, boxes of cigarettes and empty bottles of wines all the over the floor. The whole house smelled horribly.
She had done her job by helping to do all the household hires and even working part time ever since her mum died. However even if she had cleaned the entire house, the house would still return to the same untidy state as before once her father comes home in his usual drunk state.
But she no longer had to beat anymore. The sound of waves seem louder that night than any other nights to her, matching the sound of her pounding heart. Her plan of running away was finally coming true.
She quietly climbed out the window and ran as quickly as she could despite carrying a heavy Vans bag and a leather suitcase in her hands. She felt the wind blowing in her face as her long wavy hair flew in all eight directions. She hailed a cab to go the airport which will eventually bring her to Los Angeles, the only place she could find shelter. She was grateful that she had saved just enough money to travel overseas. Aunt Julie had also allowed her to stay at her house, knowing what her life had been.
As she prepared for the plane takeoff, she let out a sigh that she been holding on for so long and smiled wholeheartedly to herself.
" Ameli, colours are coming back into your life again. "
