Echoes of Metamorphosis

Chapter 12

As we were walking down to the restaurant, I was thinking about everything that's happened over the last 3 months. It's crazy that this all started only 3 months ago! How did my life change so dramatically? Damian then stopped and looked at me with a slight worried expression. "Hey, you okay? What's on your mind?". Then we started to have a deep conversation about all the events in the time that i've been a vampire and lived at the mansion/hq. "I am really thankful of everything you and the others have done for me, including getting started on my transition, and I'm also very thankful that everyone was and are supportive of all that. I've never really had a lot of support in my life except from my friends and little siblings." I continued on a ramble, but I was glad that he didn't even stop to interrupt me and that he waited for me to completely finish my sentence. "Well, you're very welcome and I'm happy that you have a better life now." He said as we closed in on the restaurant. "Why is this place open so late? Are all the staff vampires or something?" I asked wondering if I was right or not. "Well Arrow, you're not completely wrong, the staff are human but the cooks and the managers are all vampires, we just let them know what we are  and compel them not to say anything about our world to the humans." He explained carefully.

We entered the building and we told the waiter where we'd want to sit and he grabbed some menu's and led us to the table. There weren't many people here so it was pretty quiet except for some small chatter. "Have you been here before Damian?" I asked, wonderingly.
"I have actually. I came here last with an ex girlfriend and it was nice. The food is great too." He replied. 'I wonder how long ago this ex girlfriend happened'. I thought. "What would you recommend me to get?" I asked. He thought for a bit looking at the menu and then back at me. "How about the lamb curry, the 4th one down?" I looked down at the menu and had a read on what the lamb curry was all about, and it did sound good. "Okay yeah, I'll get that one. What kind of drinks do they have here then?" I asked. Clearly I've never been to this restaurant, let alone this side of town before. Damian grabbed one of the drinks menu's and handed it to me. "Okay, I think I'll get a Bloody Mary and ice water. What about you, have you decided yet?" Just as he was about to tell me what he was getting, the same waiter came over and took our orders. "I think I'll have the chef's special of the day also with a Bloody Mary and lemonade please." It didn't take long for our food to arrive and our drinks of course. I hope this meal is as amazing as Damian AND the menu say.

We were making small talk and laughing while eating and enjoying the food, when one of the waitresses came over to check that we were okay and the food was good. "Yeah, everything's amazing. Thank you." I said as Damian's mouth was full and all he could do was nod his head. "How's your meal?" I asked him and when he had swallowed his food, he said "It's really very good, wanna try some?" He said, kindly offering me some of his food. So, I nodded and he picked up a small spoonful and fed it to me. "Mmmm. This IS good." I said as I was swallowing the food.

"I knew you'd like it! How's your meal? is it good?" Damian asked me. As I finished the spoonful i saw chewing I gave him a thumbs up and said "It's absolutely delicious, the best food I have ever had!" I finished with a giant grin on my face.

We were just about done with our food, so we called over a waiter to get the bill. I then said "Hey, how are we going to be paying for all this? Shall we spilt the bill or are you good to pay for this and when we go for date #2, I'll pay." He had his thinking face on while we waited for the bill to come, then he replied saying "Yeah, I'll pay for this and wherever it is that we go for date 2, you can pay. If you're okay with that?" I thought about it and I was certain that that's what I wanted to do. So I just smiled.

The bill finally came and Damian payed for the meal and we got out of our seats and thanked the waiter and went to the back and thanked the cooks too! Then we left the restaurant and went on our way home with (not quite) full stomachs. We were missing something. Someone warm to drink.
So, off we went to find a willing participant or in this case, a human to get our fill for the night. As we were chatting away about the date and how well it went, we heard a noise not too far away. I whispered "Did you hear that? Should we go check it out?" Hopefully Damian heard me. All he did was nod his head as he was concentrating on where the noises were coming from. Then, all of a sudden, he caught it!

We made our way over to where the sounds were coming from and it was just a guy walking alone and we could smell the blood - its so strong. I couldn't take it anymore but I held everything in me to not go for the kill and Damian was helping with that too. We walked over to him to see what the fuss was about. He explained that there was a large animal that looked like a dog but bigger and he said that it just came out of nowhere.

Once he was finished telling his story, we both said to not make a sound and that this wouldn't hurt. He nodded quietly as he obeyed us and I took his left arm and Damian took his right arm and we both took bites and started sucking some blood. As soon as the blood touched my tongue, it felt like the warmest drink you could think of and like I could feel it all over my mouth.
My brain then told me that I have had enough and that I needed to stop and Damian should be stopping too. I took his hand to signal to him and to my surprise, he stopped. Then we had to do the thing that I hate doing the most; cleaning up his wounds and erasing the memory of us existing.

And that's the end of chapter 12! Finally haha. I hope y'all enjoyed this chapter, it took a long time for me to finish (writer's block am i right?)
