It had been a day since the events of Rose's scheme occurred. Y/N glanced at her phone's time. It was three o'clock, and she had decided to go see Bede, remembering what he had told her.
"I'm. . . I'm sorry I can't stay and chat but please tell me what you were going to say after everything is resolved. I will see you again, I can promise you that much."
The words never left her mind, and that hug he had given—although quick—meant so much to her. She had been itching to go see him all day. She had kept checking the time, being ready to leave long before a sane hour.
"Why're you in such a rush?" Hop questioned. "Mate, nothing's in danger anymore."
"I know that!" Y/N halted her jog, thinking for a minute how to respond. "I'm. . I'm going to see Bede." She found no real reason to lie. After all, Hop figured it out before the others did.
The purple-haired boy laughed, "I wish ya luck. He's been a bit prickly lately but I 'spose that's his usual self."
Y/N smiled sweetly, continuing on her way quickly, as if she were late to school. She wanted to be quick since before she got to the gym, she wanted to buy the boy something at her local clothing store. Yesterday before heading home she browsed the shop—the perfect thing catching her eye.
She stepped into the shop, and luckily, it was still there. It was an oversized and baggy jacket bearing pastel pink and blue colors. Its turtleneck was wide and lacey, and the sleeves had lace dangling at the ends. It was cute, elegant, and stylish. While it was slightly feminine in appearance she figured Bede was quite the effeminate guy.
She purchased it quickly, the item being shoved in an opaque large bag. Stepping out of the shop, she called a Flying Taxi. The venture was quick, her jumping out of the cart once it landed.
Ballonlea was such a beautiful place. Even when she was first going through the Gym Challenge she had found herself lingering here longer than she needed to. Leaving it was hard—the glowing nature became a homely aspect to her. The residents were nice and friendly, and the Pokemon often played with the people here. Some of the Fairy Pokemon were tricksters, but that was to be expected.
"What brings you here, deary?" The voice of the familiar Opal sounded from behind her. Y/N whirled around, "uh, I wanted to see Bede." She gripped the handles of the bag tighter with nervousness.
Opal smiled, a knowing gleam in her eye. "I'm sorry hun, he's out training right now; my orders."
Y/N released a sigh, looking down. "That's unfortunate, I'll come back later-"
"Well, I suppose I could call him in, it is about tea time." The old woman suggested.
The excited shine in Y/N's eyes told the woman more than enough. "You head on into the gym, deary. I'll go get him." Opal sashayed away, telling her Rotom phone to make a call.
The ex-Fairy Gym Leader's talking grew distant as Y/N entered the gym. It felt so quiet and dormant with no Gym Challengers waltzing about. "Weirdly eerie," she chuckled to herself.
"Eerie?! You're calling my establishment eerie?! The nerve you must have to come here unannounced and insinuate this place be some creepy hideout!"
That voice. It was one so obvious, so familiar. No one else would be so aggressive and rude.
"What brings you here? What's in the bag?" Bede prompted impatiently.
Y/N giggled, turning to face him. "I wanted to see you, I also got you this."
The platinum blonde shifted with surprise, his face changing to one of embarrassment and grumpiness. "See me? I'm clearly busy with my new epicly important role of being the new Fairy Gym Leader. You're hindering my progress by existing but—what's in the bag?"
