Best friends forever, right?

Chapter 1

Hailey's pov

August 17th was the day that Dylan moved into the house next to mine. We were 10 years old and clicked almost instantly. Our mothers became best friends too both of them being single mothers. Dylan has two older brothers and a younger sister. They became like my siblings as well considering I was like an only child. Now we are both 17 and on our last year of high school. 

But let's go back to the day that we met. The day I found my best friend. 

7 years earlier 

I was sitting in my room on my bed reading Harry Potter and the sorcerer's stone. When I heard a truck coming down the street and pulling into the driveway next to my house. I put my book down and looked out my window. There were three boys and a young girl along with what looked like their mother outside. What I am guessing was their van was parked in the street in front of the house. I watched as they pulled boxes out of the moving truck and taking it inside the house. 

After about five minutes of watching a blond haired boy looked up and looked me in the eyes. I dropped to the floor embarrassed that I got caught starring. I crawled to my bedroom door and stood up before going downstairs.

"Mom" I called

"In the kitchen" she said

My mother and I have been alone for my whole life. My father left when he found out she was pregnant. I use to think about my dad a lot but as I got older I no longer wanted to get to know him. I am happy with my mom and I know that if my dad wanted to know me he would have stayed.

I walked into the kitchen and seen my mom making lunch. I climbed up onto the bar stool and watched as my mom cooked. 

"There are people moving into the house next door" I said

My mom turned around and smiled

"Do they have kids" she asked

"Yeah three boys and a girl, it looks like it's just a mom" 

Mom nodded her head and turned around stirring what smelled like pasta in the pot. 

"Well how about after lunch we go over and introduce ourselves"

"Ok" I said  

Mom turned off the fire on the stove and plated our lunch before sitting the two plates on the counter. She came to the side of the counter I was on before sitting down next to me so we could eat lunch. 

Once we finished eating I helped my mom clean up before we went outside to introduce ourselves to the new neighbors. We walked over to their house just as the mom and the kids were coming back outside.

"Hi we just wanted to come introduce ourselves, I'm Tessa and this is my daughter Hailey" my mom said.

"Hi I'm Katie and these are my kids, Tanner, Chase, Dylan, and Allie." They shook hands.

I looked over at who I now know has Dylan and noticed he had blue eyes. 

"You want to go upstairs and play" Dylan asked

I looked up at my mom and she nodded yes

"sure" I said

We ran into the house and upstairs into his room. I looked out one of his windows and noticed it looked into the one on the side of the house which was my bedroom. I turned around and seen that Dylan had pulled out some board games. We both sat down on the floor and played games until my mom said that it was time to go home.

Hey guys so this is an original story that I came up with a few years ago and didn't really know how to start it. So I'm sorry that this chapter is so short but I just wanted to get a start on it and kind of introduce the story a little.
