"Shortcake?"
Lav held her breath. Something felt odd. Everything in her informed her that, despite the pet name, the person behind her was speaking to her.
She slowly turned around, her breath caught in her throat as she noticed the woman from before gawking at her.
"Shortcake?" She repeated but with a more relieved tone.
The woman carefully lifted her hood, revealing her hair. Pink hair? Lav's thoughts drifted back to her dream. The girl with pink hair appeared clearer in her memory.
"Oh, Lavender," her voice cracked as she studied her, "you're alive."
Lav let out an oof as she felt the woman throw her arms around her, bringing her in closer, causing her to hesitate in perplexity. Lavender felt the warmth flow throughout her as she drew back slightly, the woman's calloused fingertips cupping her cheek.
Lav remained there stunned for a little while, taking in her presence, before her body reacted. She quickly wrapped her arms around the woman's wrist, spinning her off and shoving her away. The pinkette whirled out of her grasp, startled by how quickly she pushed her away.
"Shit-Lavender- It's me, Vi, "
"Vi?" The name felt oddly familiar on her tongue.
The woman began pointing at herself, rambling about things Lav couldn't comprehend. Mentioning Stillwater prison and something about...Powder? What the fuck was a "powder"?
She stood there dumbfounded, looking her up and down with confusion and caution in her stance.
Vi paused her rambling, realizing the woman before her wasn't understanding anything coming out of her mouth. Vi peered at her, squinting her eyes, trying to make out the details of the woman's face. Maybe it wasn't her?
No, no, Vi recognized that face from anywhere; it was her. She knew immediately when their eyes met, she would never forget those warm eyes. The choker necklace draping around her neck, however, gave her confidence that it was Lavender. Vi had dreamed every day she would see it again. She had memorized every detail and knew who the owner was. The only difference Vi noticed was a deep, veiny purple scar across her chest, and her hair was much longer, cascading down her back, as well as... a brow piercing?
"Look, your..." Lav paused, looking up and down at the women, and sputtering slightly, "H-hot," she shook her head, "but I am off work, so come back another day, love. I have someone to get back to, so if you could just..." She cautiously began to back away when the woman reached out and wrapped her hand around Lavender's wrist.
"Wait, wait, you don't recognize me?"
Lav glared down at her hand, which was tightly wrapped around her wrist, before returning her gaze.
"Not on a personal level, no." Lavender yanked her hand from her grip. What is her problem?
"But-H-how? It's me, Violet." Her sincere eyes were filled with hurt, and Lav couldn't help but feel guilty. She had an affinity for puppy' eyes.
She paused for a minute before concluding: This woman had been drugged. She had to be on shimmer; there was no other explanation for her disoriented and confused state.
Lav groaned to herself, believing that it was best to treat this situation like a Jinx situation. Exercise caution and care.
"Hey look, I know you must be confused." Lav hesitantly extended her hand before laying it on the Pinkett's shoulder. She felt immensely awkward, but she stuck it out, used to this type of situation from the brothel.
