For the next couple of days, Seonghwa's life had momentarily gotten back to normal – returning to how his time was before the arrival of the new neighbour. Seonghwa successfully balanced his time at work with his care for the pups. He had barely seen the alpha – much less interact with him. It was almost as though Hongjoong didn't exist. Best of all, the omega had happily reclaimed his morning relaxation time on the balcony.
Seonghwa had come home late from his Wednesday evening shift at a local coffee shop. "I am so sorry that I'm late, '' Seonghwa apologized, stepping into his apartment. Kicking his shoes off, he glanced in Yeosang's direction.
The beta was seated on the couch with a textbook opened in his lap, working on some homework. Flipping the light hair out of his eyes, Yeosang smiled "It's alright, Seonghwa hyung. The pups just got settled in bed, if you want to kiss them goodnight." Yeosang closed his book shut and retrieved his school bag from the floor. "And there's some leftover ramen in the kitchen."
The elder smiled warmly. He was lucky to have his three best friends in his life as support. Between himself, San, Wooyoung and Yeosang, there was nearly always someone available to be with the pups. "I can't thank you enough."
Yeosang chuckled lightly, "I'm the one that should be thanking you. It gives me a chance to get out of the apartment for something other than school."
"As long as the babysitting doesn't affect your schooling" Seonghwa insisted. "Your education comes first."
"I know" Yeosang started offering the elder a smile in return. "That's what makes you such a good hyung. But it doesn't affect my school. You've been worried about that for years now and my answer is always the same. I can handle it." The beta collected the remainder of his discarded items and moved towards the door to leave. "Now I need to go meet up with Wooyoung and San."
"Got a night out planned with them?" Seonghwa questioned with a chuckle. "On a Wednesday?"
"Every day is Friday when you are living with Wooyoung '' Yeosang laughed with a nod. "They want to check out a new restaurant in the city. We thought it might be nice to head out today. We could all do with a break." Suddenly a flash of realization crossed Yeosang's face. "Oh hyung. I'm so sorry. We didn't even think about inviting you. We figured you wouldn't want to come and then the pups would need a sitter and we just... I'm so sorry."
Seonghwa's jaw fell slack. Yeosang was concerned about how he would feel in regards to them going out together? Seonghwa had become accustomed to this over the years. He knew that his life had gone in a different direction than his friends. He had long since come to peace with that, he held no ill will towards his friends for this.
"Oh you don't need to worry about that" Seonghwa waved his concern away. "You're right, I'm not interested in coming. Nights out on town are not really my speed anymore. I much prefer staying in and relaxing." The omega smiled warmly. "You guys go out and have fun. Bring me back a dessert or something."
"We could get you a takeout meal," Yeosang offered. "We won't be back till late but you could have it tomorrow."
"The dessert would be plenty," Seonghwa insisted. He reached forward and gave Yeosang a little side hug. "Have fun tonight."
"Of course, hyung," Yeosang smiled. With everything collected, he opened the apartment door. "See you soon, hyung. Let me know if you need help tomorrow."
"I will" Seonghwa agreed with a nod. "Thanks again, Yeosang." He gave the younger male a small wave as he stepped forward to shut the door firmly. Moving deeper into the apartment, Seonghwa entered the room the two boys shared. The room was incredibly small – especially for two children – but Seonghwa had worked hard to make it comfortable. There were two beds on either side of the room; one was clad in baby blue sheets and the other in a soft purple. Between the two beds was the large, simple white dresser – with bookshelves hung above. Finally, to complete the room, the boys each had matching toy boxes with plush cushioning atop, acting as a little bench seat. Over the years, Seonghwa had pinned drawings and photographs to the wall to make it extra familiar.
