IMPORTANT PLEASE READ!!!
A/B/O physics work differently in this fic than any I remember reading before, so to avoid confusion, I'll explain it here.
Basically, everyone is just a normal human. The only A/B/O aspects in this story are scents, slick, and knotting. You can smell a person's scent only if they are aroused. Otherwise, unless stated directly, Alphas and Omegas can be generally told apart from their builds (I don't have any Betas in this fic so they might not even exist in this world). Mating isn't a thing, people just get married like normal, meaning biting isn't a thing either. This fic has a historical setting, but there is no clear era or time because I would not have the patience to be so thorough and accurate with every single little thing. So this is definitely not an accurate representation of history, but I don't think any of you actually care. I've still tried my best to use appropriate language and stuff to make it more immersive to the olden days.
I originally wrote the first part of this fic for my jikook oneshot collection, and so many people wanted me to make a sequel for it. It became as long as the first part, so I thought I could just make it its own book! The first part will remain in the collection.
The lovely booksn_candles on Ao3 was kind enough to beta read this for me!
It was the dead of night. The moon was full as it watched over from the sky, a mild but warm wind was blowing on Jimin's fair hair as the Omega wandered through the courtyard, his bare feet tickled by the lush grass. The young man was wearing a simple attire made of silk, having redressed after his attendant had helped him change into nightwear. This night was the one Jimin had been planning for weeks. His heart beat fast as he made haste through the orchard to disappear into the grove, to safety from any knights patrolling the grounds. A smile spread on his lips when he finally stepped foot into the rose garden that resided on the northern outer wall of the castle. The Omega plopped down on the iron bench and let out a shaky breath. Finally, he was alone.
Jimin was the younger prince of the kingdom of Serendipity. He was adored by all, brought up to be a proper and heartfelt Omega. His duty was to gain the love of his people. Nothing he did was amiss. He was always dressed in the finest of fabrics, his hair and makeup perfected by his attendant. Jimin was a studious man, and whenever his princely responsibilities gave way, his nose was in a book to learn about the world.
Being the most beautiful Omega in the kingdom had its pros and cons. He had thousands of people admiring him and throwing him flowers whenever he rode the carriages in the city, but that also meant great danger could loom around him if Jimin wasn't careful. That was why the prince had an army of bodyguards surrounding him at any given moment when he was out and about. Even in the castle he called home, a knight would follow him only to appease the king. Only in his chambers could he be truly alone.
Jimin wanted nothing else but to enjoy time in the gardens by himself. And now he was here, when almost everyone at the castle was asleep, surrounded by white roses that symbolized his kingdom. Escaping his room had been a task the young Omega had been hesitant about, but in the end, the vines growing up to his balcony were strong enough to carry his weight as he climbed down. All that was left was the journey through the courtyard. But Jimin knew the knights' blindspots and could run unseen between trees and bushes all the way to his beloved garden. The moonlight shone on the man's face as he closed his eyes to even his breath fastened by the adrenaline. He was alone, in the silent company of the roses and the quiet stream that flowed nearby. Peaceful.
The wind played with his hair when Jimin opened his eyes. Nighttime was beautiful in the garden, and the blond-haired Omega was delighted to witness said beauty at last. He sat up straight on the bench and pulled a small book out of his pocket, happiness thrumming in his chest as he flipped it open. The writing was barely visible in just the light reflected from the moon, but Jimin already knew the poem inside out. With the correct page turned, he began to sing. His voice was soft as he serenaded the moon floating above him, the stars as his audience.
