A Queen's Tale

"Good morning your Highness"

"Let me help you out of your robes"

"Your bath is ready"

"Please relax while I wash your hair"

"Breakfast is served, your Majesty will join you at the table"

Audene heard all this on a daily basis, it was now constant in her life, she was used to it after all, 3 years is more than enough time to adjust to such things.

"Your majesty, his bed partner last night will be joining you two for dinner" one of her personal maids informed as they got her ready for the day. She knew this one must have served him well if he allowed her to join them at the table.

"Very well" was her only reply as the other servants left leaving her with Danielle, the same one who kept brushing her hair.

"How you put up with something like this for 3 years I will never understand, I would make the lives of those Harem's hell if they ever crossed my way" Danielle ranted as Audene let out a chuckle, Danielle was surely talkative and had found herself growing close to the Queen over their time together.

"What my husband does is none of my concern, I only focus on myself and my kingdom, he focuses on his concubines and the kingdom, so at least we have one thing in common" Audene told her as she stood to properly look at herself in the mirror.

"I'm certain his majesty is blind, all the men in this kingdom and even further would kill for you who they call 'Black Beauty', but he just takes up girls who think they're all in some kind of fairytale" Danielle continued as they stepped out of the room and began walking into the main dining.

"His majesty is surly blind, but do not worry yourself, let me handle him as I always have" Audene soothed the girl as they reached their destination, Danielle bowing at the sight of the King.

"Audene." the King greeted sipping on his tea.

"Danon." she replied as Danielle poured her a cup.

They sat in silence until the door was opened and a girl with auburn waist length hair walked in, her head bowed as she sat next to the king, still not looking up. Audene heard Danielle scoff and mutter something she could not decipher, but chose to ignore it.

"Selena, do not be afraid, look up if you wish, I'll protect you so have no fear" Danon said as he laid his hand on the now known Selena, said girl breaking out into a blush and finally looking up, turning to face the queen as she bowed her head in greeting.

Audene and Danielle nearly breaking out into laughter, but quickly controlled themselves once they caught sight of the King's glare.

The rest of breakfast was spent in utter silence, once they were done, Audene quickly excused herself and stood up as she had important work to attend.

"Pardon me I have very important arrangements that need my attention, I trust you'll find the trash bin on your way out" she spoke calmly getting up.

"Did you just insinuate you'll throw her out like she's a pile of dirt?!" Danon exclaimed, giving her an incredulous look as Selena turned red from humiliation.

"Of course not" she excused.

"Good"

"That's the cleaners job, good day"

"Audene!" It was too late though as Audene had already walked out the dining door with her lady in waiting.

"But your highness I do have a question" Danielle piped up as they walked towards Audene's office.
