Just so you know this was supposed to be up last week but it didn't publish.

Dear Diary,

Today I thought I would actually do a proper diary instead of me just rambling on a lot.

So, today I woke up to the most annoying sound of my alarm at 6 in the morning. Yes, I know, early, I didn't get up this early by choice. I had to get to the sports hall near where I live by 7 so I could go with some people in my scout troupe to Bishop Wilton so I could to the Wolds Challenge. The wolds is a 12/13 mile competition hike. Our troupe had entered 2 teams, my team had Orchid, Wombat, Kestrel and I in and the other team had Blob fish (I really need to change his name but I can't be bothered), Gorilla and 2 others who haven't been in this 'story' and I don't want to put them in. We had previously marked out our maps and after kit check we were all good to go. Our leader didn't want us to walk all together (the 2 teams) however we set off at the same time so we ended up sticking together for the majority of the hike.

We had to carry (grabbing kit list) waterproofs, whistle, pencil, paper, 30p, torch, spare batteries, orange survival bag, a first aid kit, spare jumper, top, trousers and socks, hat, gloves, emergency rations (mars bars) and at least 1l of water. Each. Then as a team we needed 2 maps, 2 compasses, 2 hi vis vests, 2 watches, 1 phone, and 1 bivi. It surprisingly wasn't that heavy.

Anyway, the people organising it decided to stick a huge hill at the start so people who are crap at walking up hills get really tired at the start, people such as me. I am alright at walking on flat ground, the minute a big hill comes, not so good. In the end we finished in 5 hours and 44 minutes, around 20th out of 50 teams so we did ok I guess. An even better note our explorer group came 3rd out of around 17 explorer teams, their route was 17 miles. When we got to the end it was a big relief to be honest. Taking my bag off felt really weird though. On a funnyish not, it was really sunny whilst we were walking and I was wearing a short sleeved t-shirt with a wristband and a watch on. I now have a tan line on my wrist. Great. Well, erm, I don't really mind.

Finally home, bathed and sat in one of our 5 massive bean bags watching casualty. Only thing that could make that any better was a hot chocolate, unfortunately we had run out :(

Now I'm writing this and I'm about to go to bed so byeeeeeeee.
