I entered the library, finally seeing the slump I've been looking for for 3 hours. He's had his eyes up on the ceiling as he lets out a grunt or two every 15 seconds. I sighed and shrugged it off.

I walked to his table and sat on the chair across him.

"Well Mr. Genius, looks like you totally flunked the debate championship. Woke up on the wrong side of the bed?"

He looked at me with a piercing gaze. He knew he can't handle failure very well, he never did. And for his nemesis to see him at his all time low, it can really bruise his massive ego.

I smirked in amusement. I tried to hide it by sipping from my coffee cup but I know he can see the corner of my lips curl upwards from across the table.

"Help yourself. Go on and mock me all you want. I know you've been waiting for this moment and I'm glad it finally came. Good for you."

He smiled to me kindly as he spoke yet sarcasm was very evident from his tone. He blinked at me a few times, refusing to break eye contact. I sneered and took another sip from my cup.

"Ugh."

He finally rolled his eyes and proceeded to bang his head against the table in lento.

"You're an idiot." I said- and his pathetic head-banging came into a halt.

"Yeah, make the most of it." He replies, his voice muffling as he presses his entire face against the hardwood surface.

"You're an idiot for making them think they won." I added.

He immediately raised his head. His brows knitted in a frown and his mouth slightly hung open as if he's almost mouthing a 'what?'. He seemed like he was malfunctioning but he quickly collected his composure and tried to let words come out of his mouth the second time.

"I don't know you mean by that and I don't know where you are going with this."

I placed my coffee cup back on the table and crossed my arms. His eyes started following my every move and he's not even trying to be subtle about it. He seemed like he's wary of what I will say or do next.

"Are you trying to give me a compliment or?..." He hesitates- then continued,

"...please say something."

"I said you're an idiot for thinking THOSE IDIOTS stood a chance defeating you. They just got lucky." I repeated.

I know that we've been rivals for God knows how long. But he knew damn well that we're made for eachother and only eachother. If there's anyone who will outdo everything he's done, that will be me and no one else.

"Y/n, what are you even talking about? I'm not gonna make it into the nationals, I got eliminated from the championship! They're not gonna let me compete no more. Don't you know how humiliating that is?" He exclaimed.

He ran his fingers through his hair and tightly pulled it out of frustration. I sat there still as he slowly crumble upon me. Then, I exhaled loudly for him to look back at me again.

"I shouldn't be saying this but... you make me better..."

I stopped for a moment. Running every word through my head before saying it out loud cause I am very much aware that he will use every encouragement that I will say to him today against me and he, much likely, will not let me live this moment down in the near future.

I took a deep breath, and picked up where I left off.

"...And you know that I bring the best out of you, too."
