SLEEPLESS NIGHTS
CHAPTER SIX
Death is what has always awaited her. From the moment that she entered this world it waited until it could take her. It made her suffer where her body longed for death. Where her heart, body and soul waited for death as well. She wanted death to take her. To end it all. The pain would leave her when she would enter death and she would want it to bring her to what came after death. Whatever that way be, she will want it all. She's sick of the pain, tired of the agony and exhausted from the nightmare.
No one would miss her. She knows that. No one will mourn her if she died. And even now when her body is in so much pain that she can barely breathe, she find that she just want all that pain to leave her as soon as she enters death. Bearing the pain and all that agony is far worse than death and she would rather welcome death with open arms rather than feel this agony every single second of her life. This is no life. She wishes that death would come for her, for the first time she wants the door to open...

Lucien sits silently in the hospital. The tears in her eyes true for his mother lies in a medical induced coma. He does not know why the doctors had decided that and when they tried to explain it to him, he refuses to listen to them. He tries to understand what they were trying to tell him. Only he could not. Neither did he understand them neither did he want to. His mother had been in an accident. The police had spoken to him before and said that a witness came forth right after the accident had happened and told him that it might not have been an accident at all.
No longer could he look at his mother like this. The woman that raised him and has always treated him right. She's his hero and now she lies helplessly and he has to be the hero. Only, he does not know what he can do for her. How to help her. There is nothing that he can do but pray that she will be all right and that she will survive this. Her injuries were grave and she had spent hours in surgery. Every hour is like a knife being stabbed into his skin.
Where these invisible wounds are created that pain him so deeply. Time does pass slowly. Much to his agony and relief. Lucien sits there. After Dave had come into the room, he could no longer be there. Dave did not love his mother. Not like a man should love a woman. He only wanted one thing from her, and even when he gets that one thing, he also seeks out other women to get the same thing. Cheating on his mother who he just married not so long ago.
The chair he sits on is uncomfortable and he has sat in it for about three hours without moving. The world around him goes on. He can hear the sounds of the hospital, the people in there, the doctors but he pays them no attention. His eyes stare at the floor as he sits there. So exhausted that all he wants to do is go to bed and sleep. But, he can't. He can't find himself sleeping when his mother is suffering. He wants to be there when she wakes up and he will protect her from all harm.
If it was not an accident and it was intentional, then someone is after his mother and he will never let that happen. He will protect her when Dave refuses. Lucien would get to the bottom of this and he would find whoever did this before they have a change to strike at her again. They will never succeed because he will be there. Despite having not slept for a long time, more hours than he wants to admit, he still would not leave this hospital nor his mother for that matter. For she means the world to him, she is his mother, his family.
His cheeks are stained with old and fresh tears. He does not care that others see him cry. This is a hospital. He is allowed to cry and even when others have deemed it not manly to cry, he will throw that into a hole and bury it so deep that he won't see it ever again. Lucien has never been the manly type that others want him to be. He does have feelings and he likes to share those feelings. During the nights when he speaks to her, he feels better. Because she won't judge him for anything that he says.
