What Happened?

Alright, some people have seen me do this before. I've talked about my NFL Football team, the Detroit Lions, in the past. I've recapped a couple of their seasons, in the past. Now I'm here to recap the season of my Michigan Wolverines, so let's get into it.

At the beginning of this season, I was ready for a couple of things from Harbaugh and Michigan.

1: A double digit win

2: And a disappointing Bowl game loss, because Jim Harbaugh can barely win the big games (remember this).

In the end, despite how well this season went, I still got both. And this season was the season that halfway through, the hype began to really build with this team. With all the hype around the QB carousel between Cade McNamara and J.J. McCarthy, to the comeback and record setting season of Aiden Hutchinson, the explosiveness of Hassan Haskins, a award winning O-Line, and a shutdown D. Everything for this team was looking amazing, that was until-

...

For any of the few sports fans that I've got following that may have followed Michigan this year, you may have thought I'd say that it was until the MSU game. But no, no. I'm looking toward the Nebraska game.

Now, I like to compare Nebraska to my Lions. What this means is that, despite their record, they really don't play like it. Meaning that six weeks into the season, they had there first test. And they almost tied. From that point on, I had to take the big games one by one. Including the lost MSU game, and.....Yeah, I'll save that game for later, or not. Probably will.

But yes, lets talk a little about the Nebraska game. Look, lets keep it a buck, as good and competitive Nebraska was this year, they are no where near where Michigan is. Yet, they were allowed to drive this game down to the last few seconds and almost take it to OT when it should have been a blow out. But like I said, they were allowed to stay in it. Despite winning that game, that's when I got scared and began thinking "Is Jim Harbaugh being carried by the talent on this team? Is he gonna be able to win the big games finally?"

Lets zoom past the MSU and Penn State games, as I'm still wondering at this stage if he's being carried. Then we get to, "The Game". Yeah, you know which one I'm talking about. The one game all of us Michigan fan can't wait for every year. The game against that team down in Columbus, and that game was as competitive and great. Of course, I celebrated the W cause you know, SCREW THAT TEAM DOWN IN COLUMBUS. But yet I still had the question in my head, did Jim draw up a good gameplan, or was he bailed out by high end talent?

Next, they become B1G Ten Champions by stomping Iowa. I expected this though, with Iowa being pretty good, but not anywhere near good enough to compete with us. And with us cementing our spot, I knew I'd get my answer if they could beat that team in Athens, then it was just a great relationship between players and coach. So what happened?

What happened was that this team was bent over a table and taken advantage of for sixty minutes on NATIONAL TELEVISION! This game mentally hurt to watch

What happened was that this team was bent over a table and taken advantage of for sixty minutes on NATIONAL TELEVISION! This game mentally hurt to watch. The gameplan from Harbaugh was absolutely horrible. And little to no adjustments made at the half, instead telling the team to "play harder". *sigh* Harbaugh in yet another big game proves he can't come through with a actual gameplan. Even after a month of preparation. Especially when the game needs to be based on offense, you don't keep running screen passes and end arounds, when they clearly aren't working!

*sigh* Yeah, my fear came true. Harbaugh can't plan for more than one big game a decade, and he was carried for 12 games out of the year. Even the games where the competition was completely inferior. And know they're saying the foundation is set for years to come, and I agree. But if Harbaugh remains after the next two years are up, recruits are gonna have to come to grips that they will be carrying Jim.

Despite the sudden end to the season, it was still a great year. From the amazing year in general, to beating that college in Columbus, to becoming the B1G Ten Champions, having a spot in the CFP, and of course Hutchinson's comeback story. I can't wait to see him in the NFL next year. As for next year, I can't wait to see who starts between McNamara and McCarthy, and how our receiving core and O-Line hold up. And to see how good our defense is. And as far as Jim Harbaugh goes, I'd only give him two more years to get it together. I'm not fooled, Harbaugh had the talent on the field to carry him through the easy games, and fight in the trenches in the hard games. It's time to either put on your coaching pants forreal or get out. That's all I've got to say on this, looking toward next season, and I'll rereviewing the Lions when there season ends in a couple weeks.

See you guys next time!
