"Ladies and gentlemen, put your hands together for the one, the only, Freddy Fazbear!". Music echoed throughout the pizzaplex, children screamed and laughed as they played with each other.
"Hey, Oakley... I'm not feeling too well." said a brunette, he was holding onto the arm of teen he stood next to.
The person he was talking to looked at him with a knowing gaze. The aforementioned had autism and it was clear that the loud music and bright lights were getting to him.
"Let's get you out of here then." Oakley said to Arson as he played with his dark brown hair. Arson pulled Oakley away from all of the commotion, and to the daycare door. Oakley, knowing Arson must be way over stimulated, opened it to reveal a more softly colored and dimly lit room. The younger kids who were just a bit to young to enjoy The Glamrocks played peacefully in the ball pit.
"Hello new friends! Welcome to the daycare- "
Sun began but stopped abruptly, seeing the anxious look on Arson's face. Sun was built with a special program to recognize faces, essentially remembering every face that walked into the daycare."Hey Sunny. Got a bit to loud out there. Is it ok if we stay in here for a while?" Oakley looked up at Sun then back to Arson, Arson nodded.
"Hm, I can send him to the nap room." Sun 's robotic voice sounded from the voice box.
"Does that sound ok Arson?" Oakley said in a soft, caring voice. Arson silently nodded.
"You guys know where it is right?" Sun said in a calm voice.
"Yep. Thanks a bunch Sun." Oakley said. Sun nodded and happily skipped off, back to the kids playing in the ball pit as the two walked to the door of the nap room.
The door was covered in stars, moons and hand prints. The kids in the day care wanted to do something special for Moon. And so of course Sun came up with the idea of painting the door to the nap room.
The two quietly entered the nap room, seeing Moon with a child sleeping in his lap. He hummed a lullaby to the sleeping children. Hearing the quiet click of the door closing, Moon look up to see Oakley and Arson.
"Oh hey guys. What's up?" Moon asked in a low, quiet voice.
"Just a bit to loud for Arson out in the Pizzaplex." Oakley explained, careful not to wake up the sleeping children. Moon slowly moved the child off his lap making room for Arson.
"Do you want me to stay here with you A?" Oakley asked the still trembling brunette as he walked over to Moon who sat still with open arms, inviting him into a hug.
"No.. I'll be okay. I'm probably gonna take a nap to be honest." Arson spoke softly.
"I'll take care of 'em. You can relax now Oakley." Moon could always read Oakley like an open book (Mostly because they were one).
"Okay. But let me know if y'all need anything alright?" Oakley just needed to make sure they both knew to call them if need be. Moon nodded as Arson sat and took a deep breath.
Oakley stepped out of the room and closed the door behind them. As they did so they let out a slight sigh before lifting their head and looking for Sun. They saw a few kids lying on their stomachs around a sheet of paper twice their size.
Knowing there was an overwhelming chance Sun was over there with the kids, Oakley walked over.
"Sunny? What are you doing?" Suns head shot up at the sound of Oakleys voice. Suns face was cluttered with paint smudges and a few dots of glitter glue here and there.
"Just helping the kiddos! They were trying to color on one another so then we all decided to color a banner!" Sun happily chirped.
"And your face? What happened there?" Oakley asked curiously. Sun looked down at his hands
"Finger painting. You know how it goes." Sun flashed a bright smile and went back to his banner. "Oh! I'm sorry Oakley! Would you like to join us?" Sun asked, offering a yellow marker. Yellow. It was Oakleys favorite color. It was bright and happy. It made him happy to look at it.
"Sure..!" Oakley took the marker, laid on their stomach and began coloring in any blank spot they could find. Soon enough, that feeling placed it's light hands around Oakleys mind. The state of mind they tended to slip into in these situations.
Oakley began kicking their feet and sticking their tongue out. They got that little glimmer in their eyes. Sun looked over to Oakley, recognizing that look. 3:45. The daycare closed at 4:00. The kids who slept in the nap room started waking up, groggy eyed.
Sun hopped up from his spot and skipped over to the nap room. None of the kids were still in there. Just Arson, asleep in Moon's lap.
"Alright friends! Due to maintenance requirements, the daycare will be closing a bit early today! We apologize for any inconvenience!" Sun announced, sending an alert to the Fazwatches of parents who had left their little ones in the daycare.
Minutes later parents started arriving to pick up their kiddos. Not long after, all the kids had gone. As he waved the last parent farewell, Sun closed the door and skipped to the little Oakley he loved to take care of.
"Hi there little one! Can you tell me how old you are?" Sun squatted to get more on Oakleys level. Oakley held up a 3. Oakley was non-verbal when they were in little space, so they used sign language to communicate.
'I'm sorry you had to close the day care early sunny.' Oakley signed.
"It's ok! The kiddos looked a bit tired anyway." Sun reassured the little kid who sat with their legs crossed. Their little overalls covering the collared long sleeve. Yellow and white stripes covered the shirt. The bright flower crown sat lightly in their brown, curly hair.
"I'd there anything you'd like to do little one?" Sun asked as Oakley rummaged through the small satchel they wore across their body. After a moment and an odd look from Sun, Oakley pulled out a pacifier. Sun was happy to see that it was an adult pacifier rather than the one meant for baby's Sun had seen them with last time.
Oakley popped it in their mouth, moving it around so it sat comfortably between their tongue and the roof of their mouth. Oakley looked up at Sun and made grabby hands, gesturing they wanted Sun to pick them up.
"Would you like me to pick you up, bee?" Sun asked. Bee was a nickname sun had come up with for Oakley on account of their love of yellow and flowers. Oakley frantically signed 'yes please'.
Sun picked Oakley up, holding them up on his hip. "What now kiddo?" Sun asked. Oakley was still learning sign language so, they signed slowly, having to finger spell some words.
'hide a-n-d seek, please' Oakley signed, not quite sure of themself. When Sun responded with a cheerful "Okay!", it made Oakley feel better. Like they had done a good job.
After a few rounds of hide and seek, Oakley sat on the play mat and yawned, stretching and rubbing their eyes. Arson walked out of the nap room, awake and feeling much better, he called to Oakley.
"Oaks? You here?" Arson called in a calm voice. Oakley heard Arson and quickly sprung up and ran to him, giving him a big hug. Sun skipped after them and looked at Moon who now stood in the doorway of the nap room.
Arson called his mom to come get them and they said their goodbyes. On their way out, hand in hand, Arson looked down and asked Oakley "Did you say thank you to Mr. Sun?". Oakley turned around and signed a big 'thank you' waved and happily walked out of the daycare.
