(This chapter is the first verse and chorus. I have no idea how long itll be.)
"Two days past eighteen
He was waiting for the bus in his army green
Sat down in a booth in a cafe there
Gave his order to a girl with a bow in her hair."Alfred was only just past eighteen. And he was being drafted, into training, then war. He was so scared, if he was being honest with himself. Placing himself in a cafe booth, a girl ran over, with her long blonde hair in a ponytail, with a white bow. Her dress was a deep blue, and her apron was very white. She tapped her little notepad. "What can I get you?" Her accent sounded..Russian. Alfred looked down. "A coffee, and a slice of cake." She nodded in response, "Of course! I'll be right back!" She bustled off, humming to herself. He watched her for a moment, before looking away and to his cellphone. A message or two from Mom and Dad. One from his brother, saying he better come back alive or he was going to cry. He laughed quietly to himself.
"He's a little shy so she gives him a smile
And he said would you mind sittin' down for a while
And talking to me,
I'm feeling a little low
She said I'm off in an hour and I know where we can go."She skipped back, setting his coffee and a plate of cake down. "Is that it?" She smiled, at the shy, scared look in Alfred's eyes. "N-No, actually...Would you mind sitting and talking to me for a while? I'm feeling a little down..." He mumbled, sugaring his coffee while not looking her in the eyes. "Of course. I'm off in an hour, can you wait?" She asked, grabbing a page off her notepad and scribbling something. "Yeah, I can wait." He said, a grin making its way onto his face. She laughed quietly at his grin and turned to walk away. "Oh, my name's Natalia, by the way." She looked over her shoulder, waving slightly. He waved back and laughed, loudly this time. "I'm Alfred. See you in an hour, Natalia." "See you, Alfred."
"So they went down and they sat on the pier
He said I bet you got a boyfriend but I don't care
I got no one to send a letter to
Would you mind if I sent one back here to you?"Natalia finished up her shift, calling out a goodbye to her older sister in the kitchen, rushing out to the boy in his army green, sitting in the booth, eyes on his text messages. "Hey! Alfred, come with me!" She brushed off her skirt and helped him up, leading him down the road to a small fishing pier. No one was in sight. "This is where I go when I need to think." Natalia explained, sitting down not the edge of the pier, Alfred settling in beside her. After what seemed like an hour of aimless stories and chattering, Alfred cut her off in the middle of her sentence. "Natalia, you probably got a boyfriend or a girlfriend, I don't know, but I really don't care. I don't have anyone but family to send a letter to...Would you care if I sent one back here to you?" "I...I'd be perfectly fine with that, Al. Very fine, actually."
"I cried
Never gonna hold the hand of another guy
Too young for him they told her
Waitin' for the love of a travelin' soldier
Our love will never end
Waitin' for the soldier to come back again
Never more to be alone when the letter said
A soldier's coming home."
