Dan's point of view

I didn't know how long I sat in the stupid hospital chair, I just knew that I hurt. Everywhere. Partly from my injuries, partly from sitting in the hard plastic chair for so long. The hard white plastic chair. Everything in this fucking room was white. The walls, the floor, the ceiling, the stupid chair, the bedding. Phil.

Phil was lying in the hospital bed next to my chair. He was hooked up to all sorts of machines and tubes. He was motionless; never moving, always still. The only thing that reassured me he was alive was the slow rise and fall of his chest as he breathed with the help of the stupid life support machine. That, and the constant beep, beep, beep of his heart monitor.

Could you believe that it was only yesterday that he was laughing and joking around with me? I couldn't. It feels like yesterday was a lifetime ago...

Flashback:

"Phil, I don't want to go outside. It's raining!" I whined, never tearing my eyes away from the TV screen in front of me. I had assumed the 'Skyrim position' since the moment I had woken up three hours ago and I hadn't moved since.

"But Dan! It's 4 in the afternoon and there's nothing to do!" Phil moaned from the couch beside me. I sighed and paused the game to look at my best friend. He was wearing black skinny jeans and his blue and black plaid, button up shirt. The kid owned a lot of plaid. Phil was sitting on the couch, feet curled up underneath him, looking at me with his bright blue eyes. Eyes that could make me melt. I looked into them and felt myself get lost. They were a clear, crystal blue, but somehow they still felt warm and inviting. I felt at home in those eyes.

Yes, I Dan Howell, Youtuber and Internet cult leader, was in love with my best friend. I have been for a while now. I would say from the moment we met, but that would be a lie. Phil was also a Youtuber, and had been way before myself. Before I started making videos, I watched them. I guess you could say I was somewhat of a Phil fangirl. I would comment on all of his videos and Facebook status, and reply to all of his tweets just to try and get him to notice me.

So yes, I had fallen in love with Phil long before he knew I existed.

"Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaan." Phil whinned again, breaking me out of my thoughts. I sighed and tore my gaze away from his eyes. I unpaused Skyrim.

"Just go make a video or something."

"But I just made one yesterday!" He complained. "Besides, I want to go into town! I know it's raining but you know how much I love the rain." I could hear the childish grin in his voice.

I groaned and turned off Skyrim. "Fine. But just so you know I'm not happy about this. The rain is going to fuck up my hair." I half joked.

Phil let out a squeak of excitment and leaped off the couch to go find his shoes and jacket. I chuckled and watched him run about before heaving myself off the beanbag to go get ready myself.

"Should we bring a camera?" I heard Phil shout from his room as I pulled on my shoes.

"For what?" I shouted back. Phil walked out of his room wearing a dark coloured jacket and black shoes.

"I was maybe thinking of making another 'Day in the Life of Dan and Phil' video. Our fans keep bugging us about it."

I shrugged. "Sure, but it's not like we're going to be doing anything interesting."

"Do we ever?" Phil joked in response and ran back to his room to grab his camera.

Five minutes later Phil and I were in the lift of our apartment, dancing around like the grown men we were.
