-Felix? What are you doing here? - Changbin dropped by by the dorm to get Jisung's notbook. "Otherwise, I can't write any lyrics, hyung!" - he whined until Changbin was forced to give in and get the notebook for him.
But seeing Felix on the couch, playing on his Switch on this time of the day was more than unusual. They all had shadules today.
Felix was so invested in his game, that he didn't even notice Changbin. "Fine" -Changbin thought. Let's try this again.
- Ay, Yongbok! Felix startled, looking around confused. When he realised who is standing beside him, he almost dropped the Switch, but composed himself just in time to catch it.
Changbin thought, Felix looked like a deer caught in the headlights for a moment, but after a few seconds, the blond schooled his expression to his usual smile.
- Hey Binnie! What's up? - he asked casually.
- Just getting Han's notebook, we are probably going to stay longer in the studio again. You don't have any more schedules today?
- N... no. I mean I'm done for today... yeah.
- Okay... anyway, I have to go, bye!Thirty minutes later Changbin was back at the 3Racha- Studio
- Finally! - Han exclaimed. - What took you so long?
- I met Felix on the way, sorry...
- Oh, so his Korean lesson is done already? - Chan asked.
- Korean lesson? No, I met him at the dorm...
- At the dorm? Is he sick or something?
- Hm, why? He was just playing on his Switch.
Chan was suppreised, but didn't comment on it.
- You know what, I need to check something - he said after a minute. The leader decided to confirm his suspicion. It was wierd for Felix to act out, but Chan had a feeling that something was wrong. Walking through corridors, finally he found the right room, where he used to have his Korean classes all these years ago. He bowed politely greeting the teacher and asking about Felix.
- I'm sorry Chan, I haven't seen Yongbok for the last three weeks. He is such sweet boy, I thought he will just come around eventually, so I decided to not tell anyone...
Three weeks? What?! Chan always asked how Felix's Korean lesson was, and he usually received a "Fine" as an answer... He would never even think, that Felix was skipping his lessons and playing on his Switch instead. Yeah, he was going to murder the kid.
- Oh.... I will talk to him. He going to apologise for wasting your time, miss. And if he ever skipps again, please inform me as soon as you can.
- Of course, I will - the teacher smiled at him and started to prepare things for her next student. Chan took it as a cue to leave. He went back to the studio. Changbin and Jisung were already looking at some lyrics and discussing them loudly.
- What is it hyung? - Changbin asked, noticeing him.
Schuld he tell them? They will probably find out anyway. He genuinely hated punishing or scolding the kids, but it wasn't exactly a rare occurrence at the dorm. As soon as they started living together, they talked about some rules, consequences and even safe words, because Chan wouldn't forgive himself for hurting them. Going though with some things wasn't easy and felt almost impossible, especially at the beginning, but he was responsible for the boys, he was their hyung, older brother and the closest thing they had to a parent sometimes. He and the boys got used to it and it worked for them. It was a little different with Felix. He never got more then a scolding and maybe an occasional smack before. Yes, maybe Chan was a little whipped, but Felix was just a well-behaved kid most of the time. Their sunshine.
- Channie-hyung? - Changbin pressed. - What is it?
- Hm... I will give you my credit card and you can take everyone to dinner, alright? I need some time to talk to Felix.
Yes, he needed time to talk to his Australian little brother and bribing the kids with food was his safest option right now.
- Is Felix in trouble? - Jisung asked smally.
- I think he is baby, but don't worry, okay? I'm sure he has a perfectly reasonable explanation. He will be fine.
- What did he do? - Changbin asked, although he already had some suspicions.
- He was skipping Korean for weeks, which means he has been lying to me for weeks too...
Changbin grimaced. If it was true, Felix really was in big trouble right now.
- Should we tell Minho? - Han asked before he could bite his tongue.
- I can handle you lot by myself, thank you Jisung.
- Yeah, but it's Felix...
- That's why I gave you the money to eat out. I need some time to... talk to him.
- Fine... We will be home around ten, that schuld give you a few hours.
- Thank you... See you at the dorm?
- Yeah, bye hyung!*
Chan kicked his shoes off at the entrance and went to wash his hands. The dorm was unusually silent.
- Felix! I already know you are here.
Chan heard some schaffeling and then Felix emerged from their room.
- Did you eat?
- Not yet...
- Okay, I will make us something quick.
- It's okay hyung, I'm not hungry - Felix answered shyly.
Not hungry, yeah, right. Chan knew the kid probably felt guilty and anxious.- You need to eat, Lix, just a little bit, alright mate? - Chan said, as they were sitting by a table twenty minutes later.
Felix reluctantly picked up his chopsticks and started to eat slowly. After they have eaten and Felix took a shower (Chan knew he was stalling, but it was actually pretty convenient, so he wasn't complaining) it was time for the talk, both of them were dreading.
- Alright, come here Felix. We need to have a talk.
Felix become completely still for a second.
- W...what?
- Come here - Chan pulled Felix with him, holding his wrist. Sitting on a couch, he made the younger stand between his knees.
- Can you tell me what happened, little one?
- What? No, nothing happened?
- Hmm...Felix. Why did you skip school today?
- I didn't...
Chan narrowed his eyes, looking at the smaller boy in disbelief. Gentle approach is getting him nowhere then. A little agitated, he spun to the side giving him a decent smack. Not too hard, but definitely smarting.
- Ow! Chris, don't! - Felix was trying to get out of Chan's hold, but without success.
- Stop acting like a brat, Felix. You have one last chance to explain your point of view in this. I talked to your teacher today and she told me she hasn't seen you in weeks!
- Oh...
- Yeah, oh. It means you were lying to me all this time and you lied to me just now too.
- I'm sorry...
- You will be. - Ugh, that sounded way harsher then Chan intended.
- Can you at least tell me why? - Chan asked calmly.
- I am really sorry... Korean is just so hard sometimes! I was so frustrated with my homework... I just couldn't get it right... and then I just decided not to go... and no one noticed so I did it again and... yeah.
- Felix... - Chan sight heavily. - Baby, I understand that it's not easy, but you should have just asked for help. You know we all are open to help you anytime, right?
- Yes... sorry...
- You also know ignoring your responsibilities and lying is unacceptable and we have rules for that?
- Channie... no, please? - Felix begged, giving Chan his best puppy-dog eyes.
- I'm your hyung Lee Felix and unfortunately I need to hold you accountable to those rules just like I do with the other kids.
- I... I know...
- Good. You are going over my knee for lying and you are grounded for three weeks for skipping korean. During those weeks you will practice at least one hour a day at the kitchen table and you are always welcomed to ask for help. I'm taking your electronics away, but you can keep your phone. I will also bring you to your lessons and pick you up every week until you are done with the courses.
- What? No! You can't do that!
- Don't yell at me, or I will take your phone too, Felix.
- No! No... don't, I'm sorry...
- Good... Let's get this over with, hm?
- Hyungie, I don't want to... What if the boys come back and see... you know?
- They won't, don't worry. Come on.
Chan eventually helps Felix lay down over his knees. He tugs his pyjama pants down, receiving more protests in return.
He strokes his back softly to calm him but eventually he knows he can't prolong this any longer. He starts the punishment with lighter smacks, that get heavier as it goes on. Felix's pitiful cries and sorries tug at his heartstrings and Chan has a really hard time to continue, but after a two, maybe three minutes, he decides the smaller boy had enough and stops.
- Shhh, little one, it's over - he says quietly, putting Felix's pants back on and patting his hair. -You took it really well... Do you want to get up and cuddle?
- Can we?
- Of course baby... Come here.
- I'm sorry...
- Sorry for...?
- For lying to everyone? - the boy says quietly.
- Good... You are forgiven, Lixie.
They spend the next minutes cuddling, Chan is rocking them softly and whispering comforting words until Felix calms down. The younger one goes limp in Chan's arms and the leader finally decides to get up and put him to bed.
- Love you, Lix - Chris says, planting a small kiss on the other one's forehead.
- Love you too...
The blond is fast asleep moments later and Chan knows, although he will have to enforce the punishment he promised, the other kids will probably spoil Felix anyway, just to make him feel better and see their sunshine simile.
