A few years ago, she had received word that her mom had taken ill. She immediately rushed home to be with her.

It was only meant to be for a bit, but her mom's health came and went, and she needed special help. Eventually, she passed away.

During her stay at home, Abigail ran the local cafe. It reminded her of the cafe she built and ran back in Hope Valley. Her adopted children grew up and were beginning to find their own way in the world.

A few years had passed since she had left, and she was wondering what to do next with her life, stay where she was, or go back to Hope Valley?

Then her old friend, Henry Gowen came to see her.

They talked for a while. Then Abigail expressed her desire to return to Hope Valley, and Henry encouraged her to do so.

The next day, she wrote a letter to Elizabeth and said she was coming home for Christmas. She packed up, and left 2 days later.

A week later, the stagecoach had arrived in Hope Valley, and Elizabeth was there to greet her.

After exchanging hugs and 'I've missed you's, they walked to Elizabeth's house, and Elizabeth caught her up on what had happened the past few years.

'How hard was it to choose between Lucas and Nathan?' Abigail asked.

'Very hard. But I'm very happy with my choice.' Elizabeth replied.

'Well, I'll have to meet these fine gentlemen!'

'You will, because tonight, we're throwing you a welcome home party at the cafe! I know it was supposed to be a secret, but I couldn't help myself!'

'That's, that's amazing! I promise to act surprised.'

That night was one of the most memorable nights she could remember since she left. The town had grown, her cafe was still around, it was almost as if she had never left.
