The world wasn't kind, he knew that.

A young adult, aspiring idol inspiring others in the world in his line of work of music and arts, dancing and pleasing fans with his fine attitude and handsome looks. Although it came with a lot of sacrifices, the amount of lack of privacy, the travelling around the world and brand deals which came with early in the morning meetings (the sun wasn't even out during those times can you believe that?) he still was proud of how much he'd accomplish and how much more potential he still has in his body.

It was tolerable though, he had his family, not only biological but also his made family, his brothers, the NCT members themselves. Maybe it was the fact they all experience the same thing the past few years, grew up together going through the same things that had them understanding each other more.

For most of Jaemin's career all he knew was that he had a home and that was enough for him.

He doesn't know if he was too ungrateful for everything he had because honestly he hates the world the very moment, this very moment.

If you ask Jaemin if he knew about the American heroes the Avengers, he would just shrug and say they were a popular group of heroes. He barely had time to keep up with news and new gossip of his own band, so he doesn't have time to stop and check news internationally. So how would he have been prepared for this? Why there in their own home of all places?

When he woke up to screams and sobbing, he immediately jolted from his sleep. For a split second Jaemin had thought the Dreamies had decided to watch a movie which contained a sad scene (how was he suppose to explain the crying?), but that split second didn't last long when he recognised the cries that echoed the dorm.

Jisung.

Alerted, he kicked off the sheets, trying to be quick as possible, almost even tumbling out and slipping of the room in panic.

"Jisung?" He called out cautiously, eyes darting around nervously as if his body was already prepared for the news before his mind. When he found the youngest, he had curled up against the side of their living room couch, sitting on the hardwood floor.

'"Look at this couch Jaemin-ah." 2016, they were moving in to their own dorm, Jaemin sees himself look around at the random furniture feeling his member's awe at the sight of the different prices and sizes of the dead-load.

"That's perfect Renjun-ah." Renjun's eyes lit up at that and he nodded in joy. They had only met each other 3 months ago for the final NCT Dream lineup and from what he knew Renjun was pretty new. They still weren't that close and both still prefer to call each other with their real names, although Jaemin still struggles with the latter's foreign name.

"You think so?" The Chinese asks softly, watching Jaemin motion the staff with them to assist the young teenagers.

"It looks homey, good choice Injunnie." Seeing the light in the older's eyes were enough to warm his heart, these boys are going to be his groupmates after all, they'll be family sooner than later.

He'll make sure of it. '

"Jisung?" he tries again, and sees the maknae perk up tensely, he quickly turns around and sobs, blinking his eyes as if he's trying to see if this was real. If he was real.

Jaemin knelt down carefully and he definitely wasn't prepared for the younger to launch himself in to his embrace, accidentally getting the older male to fall on to his butt.

The sobbing boy couldn't form proper words, mumbling incoherent words he couldn't understand. Thankfully he didn't have to say anything, as Jaemin's eyes drifted towards the television, the news anchor crying herself, she didn't have to say anything as he just stares at the news' 'breaking news' flashing in big bold red letters.

'Half of the world's population turned to dust.' he read at the tagline.

So that's why Jisung was covered in dust, huh.

Jaemin wants to feel something but everything was all muddled, his ears were muffling the younger's cries as the male continues to cling on the older tightly, as if he was scared to let go, and all he can hear was his own heart hammering in his chest, squeezing dangerously in a sort of twisted way, eyes blankly staring at the TV.

Maybe then he'd noticed the way his vision had also blurred.
