1.INTRUDER

"Ten little toes and ten little fingers! Gotcha!"

Noise fills the room as the tiny sweet voice laughs while I tickle her on the bed, I pretend to lose balance so as to give her allowance to run fron me and she does just that while her giggles lead me to where she's off to

" Whoah, what's happening here?"

"Hide me daddy! She's coming" She continues laughing so hard and he picks her up then kisses her cheek while she calms down

"You can't hide from me" I sing when I enter the kitchen and she covers her eyes with her hands

Her dad and I laugh at her weak attempt at hiding herself, her morning antics always lighten up the mood. I wish I had her morning energy and carefree attitude

"You guys are at it again" a voice whines behind us and we all turn to look at my tired looking sister

"Zoe is a ball of energy" I chuckle and move to sit down

"She sure is"she takes her from Akani's arms

We gather around the table and Akani serves us Omelettes and toasted bread with orange juice

" I'm going to miss this "I say before digging in

" You can always relocate to Johannesburg " Nsuku wiggles her eyesbrows

" No way, my life is here"

"Your life is anywhere you want to take it" Akani adds

"I guess so but I'm not ready for the move. I love it here"

There's a lot of chatter as we eat breakfast and after that I take Zoe outside. She loves it and I love it too. The two of us have grown so close and we have this cool auntie niece relationship going on a lot of the time we drive my sister crazy with our noise but hey, it's the joy that pretty little soul brings to me

I sit on the sand and watch Zoe as she starts building something with sand. I wish I could take this view with me when I go back to my house, I've been waking up at the front of the beach for two weeks now, my brother inlaw rented the beach house for a family vacation and even though I've been going to work they asked me to join them for these two weeks that they are in the Cape

My sister on the other hand has been spending quite some time here with me. After I moved back with Audrey I called her and told her what happened. That friday she flew from Johannesburg to come see me and since then she's been coming to see me atleast once in two months, other that we video call, voice call and chat each day

Audrey moved to another province, Limpopo. She's a head chef in one of the five star hotels in Thohoyandou. She's living her best life and I'm happy for her

As for me, in the past two years I've managed to graduate and get a firm where I can do my articles, I've been with them since my final year in varsity. As soon as I graduated one of the associates offered me a position to work under him and it's been an amazing journey thus far

We deal with family law, Divorces, custody battles, you name it. Besides work nothing is really going on in my life. I haven't attempted to start dating again and I have no desire to, after what happened with - I don't even want to say his name, I know for sure relationships aren't for me

I told my sister about my marital status, together we agreed that we wouldn't speak about it ever again. We buried it deep within our souls and decided there's no need for our parents to know about my stupidity

The money he left me, I asked Gundo to help me manage to get a house, nothing fancy so I don't attract attention. I also got a car, also nothing fancy, the rest has been stashed up and I only use it if I really need to

When she's finally tired of her building projects we head back to the house so they can get ready to leave

"All packed up and ready to go" Nsuku says

"I'll miss you guys, I had the best two weeks" we hug and she hold me for a while

"You promised to visit us. Plus we still have that trip to home" she says

"Yes I'll come visit as soon as I have some time off"

"I love you sesi, Take care of yourself"

"I love you more" I smile at her

"Don't forget we are only a call away" Akani adds as he also hugs me "Seriously though, any excuse to come back here" he whispers but the light smack on the arm coming from his wife tells us she heard him

I pick Zoe up and kiss her cheeks then I promise to visit her, now I must really make time to visit them. When we go our separate ways I go to the house, it's sunday so I don't have to be anywhere except on my bed and I do exactly that

The rest of the day is spent on pajamas, eating and drinking wine then I sleep again

The following morning I'm up early, after taking a shower I put on my two piece navy pants and blazer with white shirt and black heels, I have new found love for heels

I drive to work and My day starts of normal, Steve and I take on a new case and we start with our research, there's a new intern in the office, Martin, he works with us so we are a team of three

When Steve announces that lunch is on him I offer to go get some take aways, I go to our usual spot, order some pork ribs and wings and drinks  then I wait for the order

While I'm still waiting for the order I get this strange feeling that I'm being watched, I subtly turn around but I see nothing suspicious, old me would think I'm imagining things but current me knows whoever it is managed to blend in with the crowd so I don't see them

When my number is called I collect the food and head outside, I walk slowly trying to spot anyone whose going to follow me, I get that uneasy feeling again but again, I can't identify who it is. I get in my car and drive back to work

I'm distracted for the rest of the day trying to figure out whose following me and why, I haven't been on the radar for two years now, why would someone suddenly look for me now. Maybe I am just being paranoid and there's nothing to it. I convince myself that I'll just be extra vigilant and make a mental note to contact Gundo if this persists

When it's knock off time I go straight home feeling drained, as I walk towards my door I realise that the little paper I put on the corner of the door is now on the floor, meaning someone entered my house

I reach for my gun in the handbag, ready to blow someone's brains out at the thought of them intruding. I carefully try the door to find that indeed it's no longer locked then I open it and slowly walk in, It's crazy how I'm not rushing to get away,   the anger inside me just won't allow it, who do they think they are, coming in my house, intruding

I pass the kitchen and walk to the living room with my gun held steady in my hands, If I have to kill someone today then so be it. Just as I enter my living room the intruder gets up from the couch, he's all cleaned up in a suit and shiny shoes, his hair is neatly styled too and he has an unreadable expression on his face

With my gun pointed at him I take a step forward, not believing my eyes, yes, they must be decieving me because it cannot be him, not after this long

He also takes steps forward but maintains a bit of distance, not once do his eyes wander off to the gun, he keeps them steady looking at me then he opens his mouth to speak

"Hello, my wife"
