The power corrupted him. Emelie was brought back, but as a ghost- a shadow of her former self. Shadowmoth took over Paris, permanently akumatising Ladybug and Chat Noir into his personal henchmen.
With Ladybug's knowledge, everyone who had ever held a Miraculous was hunted down and imprisoned in the Agreste mansion.
Chloe Bourgeois unseated her father as mayor and took over Paris, becoming Shadowmoth's puppet for securing his reign over Paris.
All seemed lost.
But a dim ray of hope remained in the darkness.
The Motherbox did not fall into Shadowmoth's hands. It was rescued and given to a young college student from New York- who happened to hold a Miraculous of her own.
New Miraculous holders are coming. They may not be perfect, but they're determined to reclaim their home and liberate their former guardians from Shadowmoth's control.
