[Camille]
I slowly woke up, a little frown on my face when I saw the sunlight was piercing through my white curtains. I groaned annoyed and turned myself around in my bed with difficulties, my curls probably sticking out in all directions possible.
I forced my eyes to stay open and lifted my head from my pillow to look at the time on my alarm clock.
I widened my eyes in surprise when I saw it already was 9:48 PM; I never slept that long. I stared at it for a couple of seconds and then let my head fall back on the pillow, my eyes automatically closing again.
Even though I'd slept much longer, and better, than I usually did, I still felt very tired and stayed in bed for 10 more minutes before finally getting up.
I stumbled with a deep sigh through my slightly lit room and opened the curtains, squeezing my eyes shut when the bright sunlight almost blinded me. I rubbed my eyes and opened them, slowly getting used to the light.
I stared outside for a couple of seconds: from my room, I had a perfect view of my garden and my neighbour's. All the leaves in brown-orange shades looked beautiful in combination with the dark green of the grass and for as far as I could see, there were trees and forests. We lived in a pretty rural town with lots of small woods and fields for agriculture.
That was why I thought it was so weird that I'd never seen James before, because we lived in such a small town and I thought I knew everyone in the neighbourhood.
I sighed, being completely used to the sunlight by then and turned around, making my way to my door to have breakfast. Or maybe a brunch, as it was already pretty late.
I walked past my mirror and stopped, going back to take another look at the T-shirt I was wearing.
I hadn't taken off James's present and every time I saw it or realised I was wearing a T-shirt he had given me, my lips curled up in a smile.
I really liked the T-shirt and the drawing of Piglet, I thought it was a very cute one and I loved the colours that were used, and I couldn't get my mind off the fact that James had a matching one; plus, it was one of the most comfortable T-shirts I'd even worn.
I descended the stairs and walked to the kitchen, opening the fridge and staring at everything inside of it.
My eyes found the rest of the cherry pie and I really wanted to grab a piece, but my mind told me it wasn't a balanced breakfast. I stared at it for a couple more seconds, deciding what to do.
"Fuck it" I sighed in the end, taking the whole cake out of the fridge.
I cut a piece off it on the table, putting everything I wasn't going to eat back in the refridgerator.
When I was sitting down at the table, enjoying a piece of my favourite pie, my mother walked in the room and looked at me surprised, probably because I was eating pie for breakfast.
"Goodmorning Camille" she stated and chuckled as I smiled at her, putting my meal on the plate in front of me.
"Hi, Mum" I mumbled happily, and I saw her looking at my shirt with a little frown. "Did Jasmine and Grace give that to you?" she asked curiously while sitting down next to me, but I shook my head.
"James did" I stated, warm feelings automatically rushing through my belly when I remembered. My mother's face lit up and she looked surprised, staring at me with her eyebrows raised. "James, huh?" she asked me with a smirk and I rolled my eyes playfully, causing her to chuckle.
Suddenly, her face changed from happy to serious, and I unconsciously held my breath for what was yet to come.
"Look, honey... I'm really sorrry that I couldn't be there yesterday, but I had this crazy day at work and..." she started explaining and I could tell by the look in her eyes that made it clear that she truly cared.
