Something has been off all day.

Genesis has felt weird in a daunting way since she woke up this morning. Being the person that she is, she googled everything that she was feeling.

To her surprise, all of the results seemed to be conclusive to one thing.

She will be getting her Mark soon.

Some do not care for the Marks that they get and live their lives out as if they never got them.

Others live by their Marks. They find who they're meant to be with and make every moment count. They have no hesitance, no qualms, no questions. They just get up and go, starting their lives together.

Genesis wants nothing more than to be one of them.

She can't wait to receive her Mark. She cannot wait to be with the one she is meant for. Her mother has told her stories since she was young. Every little girl hears them. The story of the Marks.

The process of finding your true love, how perfect life is after you've met him.

Genesis has listened to her parents love story, she's seen other people's. She yearns for something like that.

"Good luck, Genesis!" Her co-workers yell to her as she walks from the building. They wave to her with beaming smiles on their faces. Smiles that she returns as she turns to wave back.

"Thank you!" She walks to her car and gets in.

They know that she has just taken her finals and is waiting for her results. As a senior in college, she has to make sure that her final year counts for something extraordinary. She wants it to be better than the rest of her academic years. So she's resigning from her job to focus on preparing for life after college.

She has enough money saved. She just wants a break from being so overworked all the time.

The sun has long ago set on the city, not leaving much time until midnight.

Genesis worked a double today to fill her schedule. She usually does this to keep busy so that she doesn't overthink or become frustrated with the day going by so slow.

If she stays occupied, time goes by much faster. She looks at the time on her phone and inhales sharply. She's got thirty minutes left of the day. Once midnight comes, she will officially be on her break.

As she drives on the expressway, traffic begins to slow until it comes to a full stop. She looks ahead trying to see what's going on before turning on the radio. The station plays the expressway news.

There's been an accident up ahead. Emergency services on their way.

Genesis huffs and sits back in the seat. She turns her car off knowing that she is going to be sitting there for a while. They don't have an estimated time for when the traffic will be cleared. Usually, that means it's going to be upwards of 30 minutes.
