Before today, I had been performing on street corners here in Nashville. It's very hard because you have to quickly grab someone's attention with your vocals and performance.
I was sitting in the holding room waiting with the other contestants. I was thinking about how my audition would go and what I would say. The next thing I knew, my number was called, and I had to go audition.
I walked into the room with the judges. They smiled back at me. "Hi, I'm Clark Beckham, and I'm going to be singing It's a Man's Man's Man's World."
"Alright, hit it," Keith replied.
I started to play the guitar and sing.
"This is a man's world, and it would be nothin', oh nothin' without a woman or a girl!"
"Clark, you can sing," Harry told me.
I got three yeses and the golden ticket to Hollywood Week.
"We'll see you again in Hollywood," said Jennifer.
When I left the room, I thought to myself, this entire experience was so surreal, and it just started.
