"Alone in this dark ally, do you think anybody will find us?" I worried.

"Don't worry! Nobody will find us, I promise." Who was this person? He was tall and handsome with a deep voice that was almost captivating. He kneeled down and sat next to me. This person held me so close that the warmth, smell, and heavily beating heart coming from him lulled me to sleep. Holding me close, he was keeping away the coldness of the dark night leaking over the land from ever touching me. Eventually he began to feel drowsy. Our hair was tangled messes of brown and light blonde when he rested his head on mine. He picked his head up and lifted mine to see if I was asleep. Seeing my cute sleeping face, he couldn't help but giggle. He gently kissed my lips and whispered "I love you." The stranger placed my head back on his shoulder and fell asleep as well.

"Kayla! Wake up, it's time for school!" shouted my dad, "You slept through all three alarms, you're going to be late!"

"Oh my gosh, it's 7:53!" I rushed out of bed and threw on the closest outfit I could find; a Black Veil Brides t-shirt and black skinny jeans. Because I was running out of time, I brushed my dark brown hair and put a black clip in it and was only able to put on eyeliner and mascara. I grabbed my camouflage bag and my key, put on my white converse, and flew out the door.

When I got to school, I quietly walked into homeroom just as the bell rang.

"What took you so long? You were almost late!" whispered Willow. She sat next to me in the back of the room.

"I... didn't sleep well is all," I replied, "or maybe I slept too well."

"Kayla, Willow! Stop talking and pay attention to the morning announcements!" said our science teacher Mrs. Silo. A couple of girls sitting in front of us were gossiping about some boy. Well whatever it is they're talking about is probably better than hearing the principal go on and on and on about getting detentions, so I eavesdropped.

"Did you hear about the new student?"

"Yeah, his name is Derek; right?"

"Yes, and he's really hot! Or, so I've been told." They were interrupted by Mrs. Silo.

"Class, this is Derek Tampton, our new student. He moved here from Florida and..."

Why does he seem so familiar? I've never been to Florida before, so where have I seen him? His hair is light blonde and kind of long and shaggy. Wow, look at his eyes! They're a bright baby blue; how pretty!

"Hi, I'm Derek. I'll be sitting here for the rest of the seventh grade year." He said.

He even sounds familiar! Why does it seem like I've known him forever? Why is my heart racing? I have to say something or he'll think I'm weird!

"Hey, I'm Kayla!" I said nervously, "Nice to meet you." I turned to Willow with a concerned expression. She winked and gave me a thumbs up and I turned to Derek. He was looking at me already when I turned around and he was staring at me blankly. After a few awkward seconds of staring, he started to wiggle his eyebrows in a flirty manner. I kept a straight face and calmly said, "Um, no." For some reason it seemed to bother him that I didn't giggle or blush or smack him in the face, he just turned around and listened to the teacher.

At lunch, I sat at the usual table with my usual friends. I always sat with Willow, Sabrina, Sydney, Kandi, Mysti, and Jo. Mysti brought the mood by saying funny things, but something was off today. It was almost as if the usual perverted atmosphere was a calm, friendly atmosphere. I looked around the lunch room and remembered why. Derek, sitting at a table full of boring preps, was looking at me. When our eyes met, he slowly and calmly looked away like nothing happened. At this point, I was really confused. How would he be able to see only me in an ocean of teenagers? Especially when he's sitting on the opposite side of the room?
