Summary: Stiles Reid-Stilinski was a great many things including: an FBI agent, a husband, and a spark to name a few, but a liar and a coward were not on the list. Still on one of his first cases with the BAU a case brings his team, including his husband, back to Stiles' hometown where enemies and allies alike await. Still Stiles has grown a lot since he was forced to leave the town and he is not afraid to face whatever case awaits head on.

Notes: To make this fic a little different from my other fic Finding Home Stiles is going to previously be a CIA agent and have met Spencer due to his consulting with other agencies. While I work in law enforcement I do not work for the government (although I know basic federal laws) nor do I for the state of California so everything I use will either be from my own state or what I can find online.

Info: For typology of serial murderers, I used research by Holmes and DeBurger (1988)'s Serial murder and Douglas, Burgess, Burgess &Ressler (1992)'s Crime Classification Manual. For how serial killers come to be I used the Integrated Model by Arrigio & Purcell (2001). Other perspectives for investigators came from Serial Murder: Multi-disciplinary Perspectives for Investigators by the Behavioral Analysis Unit (This book is interesting, and I highly recommend it). Any other research came from the shows themselves or other outside sources. If you are interested in learning more about these sources or the research let me know.

Stiles was a not so bright eyed twenty year old when the CIA recruited him straight out of college. He took their deal with a devilish smile that spoke of how little he cared for his own life after all Stiles had little to no family left, few friends, and was left packless after the darkness never truly left him. Within his six years with the CIA, Stiles ran countless missions, most to this day he couldn't say a word about, still it wasn't until his third year with the CIA did, he ever truly learn to live again.

Most other agents took to avoiding him with his dark almost black eyes that were once whiskey. Stiles was a lot of things the other agents said he was dark, cold, and alone, but he wasn't as soulless as they all thought. With each kill or mission completed his ledger got redder and redder until it practically dripped with blood. It weighted heavily on his shoulders making him feel as though it reinforced the ideas of those who had left him (not that he would ever say their names). The weight of the gazes of friends long past never have truly left him nor have the ghosts either. They visit nightly after all.

But that third year with the CIA changed Stiles in ways he could only admit with pride, well it wasn't really his work with the CIA, but meeting a certain quirky FBI agent that changed Stile's life for the better and gave him the hope for a clean ledger.

When Stiles met Spencer Reid, he saw a man who had faced so much, but still had clear bright eyes. He was a man eager to change the lives of those around him and Stiles fell a little in love. Lucky for him Spencer Reid was just as enchanted with the man's dark whiskey eyes and saw the bit of light that still hoped, craved, for a better future.
