(New york ; 1980)
It was a beautiful day at the Home For Girls Orphanage. As I wake up,I fold my bed and pick out my one and only outfit.(which barely fits). I braid my long strawberry blond hair into a pretty braid.
As I'm walking downstairs past the long hallways and down the long stairs I meet up with my best friend, Molly. She is wearing a dark blue, navy dress. Her hair pulled back into a tight pony tail with a pink bow-her favourite colour. When she sees me she overloads with joy. She yells out, "Eve!! I have wonderful news!!" "What is it?",I ask.She runs down the stairs and waits for me to follow her (which of course I do). Once I catch up with her she is sitting at the breakfast table proudly showing me the breakfast that she made. She tells me to sit and enjoy the food while we can. "Where did u find all this?!" I asked excitedly. " Oh I just went out while Ms. Char was-" We were interrupted with steps coming down the stairs. "Hurry hide!" We both drop to the floor grab a sponge, and a mop an pretend that we are doing our chores. Of course Ms. Chars comes down wearing her pjs and colorful bobby pins all around her head. "Girls! I'm surprised that you are up so early." She says sarcastically. I was so glad when Molly stood up. "We just wanted to get an early start with with our chores,and... Oh! We made you breakfast!" She glares at us like a lion stalking their prey. "Really? I never new we had pancakes" she grabs the plates with her big, fat fingers and breaks all the plates on the floor, causing pancakes to go flying in every which direction. She walks away and orders both of us to go upstairs to wake everyone up.

After every one else is awake Ms. Chars comes into the room and tells Molly to get packed. "Wait, where are you going?" I ask suspiciously. She looks at me sadly and says, " I was supposed to tell you at breakfast but I never got to. The thing is... I finally got adopted!!"
I look at her like she had just told me that I had bird poop on my head."Aren't you happy for me? This is what I've been wanting my whole life." I forced a smile and said, " Of course I'm happy for you it's just that-". She looks at me angrily. " ugh. I don't even know why I told you this you always get so jealous of me all the time! "she stomps out of the room with her luggage in her hand. "Molly she's here!" Ms. Chars says excitedly. " I guess I have to go" I give her a hug and then she's gone. I look out the window and watch her greeting her new parents. They have a big, shiny, good-looking limo. Ok, now I'm really jealous of her.
.........................................
I run downstairs, my braid swinging gently, and I give molly the biggest hug I had ever given. We start to tear up a little, but we are soon pulled apart by her step-father. "We should get going. Say good bye to this old place because you are going to be living in paradise!" She looks at me one more time and steps into the limo like she was afraid she would ruin its beauty. After all she was quite a neat freak. She closes the door and off they go. I keep looking at the car until it gets lost in the fog.
As I start getting in the orphanage I see a piece of paper. I pick it up and start to read it. It said,

WANTED (kid napper)
Roger Hall
If seen please report immediately
Call 911 for more information.

I didn't get a really good look at Molly's step-father ,but i'm almost sure that he looked exactly like the man on this piece of paper. I feel my heart skip a beat, and I rush inside the orphanage to the kitchen telephone. I dial Molly's new phone number, but it only lands in message. I decide to leave one and wait to get a call back.
........................................
As every one is doing their chores, and Ms. Chars is getting on all of her makeup ,there is a knock at the door. I rush to it hoping that it would be Molly. Instead I find a tall bald man wearing sweat pants and a T-shirt that says, THIS IS HOW I WOKE UP. I could see why he was wearing a shirt that said that, because to me it looked like the poor man hadn't slept in days. He forces a weak smile and asks if he can have a look at the orphanage. Ms. Chars usually tells us not to open the door to weird looking, homeless people, but I couldn't say no. I let him in and tell him to sit on the couch while I go call Ms. Chars.
As I walk into Ms. Chars room (which is illegal here) there is a horrible smell. I guess that's why nobody ever went in there. "Ms. Chars?" I look around the room, but there was no answer. I started to follow the weird smell and what I found almost made me pass out. Laying on the floor was a lady a lot like Ms. Chars with blood filling the floor. The weirdest thing about this was that she was still breathing! "AAHHHH!" I rush into the room where all of our beds are at and see that everyone is looking at me like " What the heck is wrong with you?"
I tell every one what I had seen and of course no one believed me. Not even Will or Jamill who are the youngest at the orphanage. Gabby the most "popular" I guess you could say, girl of the orphanage just tells me that I'm thinking crazy stuff and that I should get some rest. That's when I realise that I had totally forgotten about the man downstairs. I go down stairs and find no man, but what I do hear are screams.... and I'm pretty sure they were coming from my room.
........................................
As I rush upstairs (again) I yank on the door to all the girls room. Of course it's locked. I try to knock down the door , but it's no use. I hear kids screaming and yelling. I hear things falling to the ground, breaking. I hear a cry of pain and then, there was silence.
I steady myself and try to control my breathing. As I try to listen to any sound in the girls room ,I hear footsteps coming from... No! It couldn't be! I didn't even notice her at first but it was sure Ms. Chars. Her close had been ripped and her hair was a mess. She had a fresh cut on her face that dripped with blood, but once the blood fell to the floor it didn't just stay there like it was supposed to, instead it evaporated into the wooden floor of the orphanage. I have never been so scared in my life before. Not even when the boys pulled pranks and scared the girls half to death. But there was one thing I had to do, and that was easy. RUN.
