🌑 Chapter IX 🌑

Oh thinkin' about all our younger years
There was only you and me

The pain became so much that she could barely handle it. It pained her so deeply that she wanted nothing more than to escape. It was not meant for her, she realized too late that escape from pain was not meant for someone like her. The darkness is all around her and that is all that she will ever be with. There is no one coming to rescue her. She has been there for so long and she realizes that she won't ever be free.

We were young and wild and free
Now nothing can take you away from me

Karina has been waiting for him for so long that she does not even know for how long she has been waiting. Perhaps a single day or perhaps even a week. The pain is all that she feels and the longer that she feels it the worse it becomes and she loses hope that Lucien is coming. She realized too late that she had fallen in love with him. Even when they have known each other less than a week.

We've been down that road before
But that's over now

Perhaps that is how it is meant to be and she is meant to be in pain and he is meant to be somewhere else. After all he had to take care of his mother. Still, she would have loved to have watched that meteor shower with him. Watch shooting stars as she has never seen them and maybe she never will. She wishes that she could hold him. That she had held him when she had the change. She was too afraid.

Baby you're all that I want

With her, the nightmare does what he wants and that is how it is meant to be. She no longer knows if she even has a body anymore. The agony is so much that it actually becomes numb to the point where she feels nothing else. Falling into despair is easy for her and the longer that she tries to hold on, the worse it becomes and she sinks deeper and deeper into this lake.

When you're lyin' here in my arms
I'm findin' it hard to believe

Reminding her of how she once tried to drown herself in the lake. Only this time she might not actually be within the lake itself where she had been before but this is a like nonetheless. Expect without the water and without the drowning and still she feels that she is drowning all the same and that is the worst of it all. She wonders if pain is all that she is meant to feel.

We're in heaven
And love is all that I need

It was all too late when she realized that pain is not meant to be what she should feel her entire life. Her memories recall what had happened when she met him. She had been afraid. She had even been relieved, but only did not realize it herself until later. That somehow this young man that had run from home lifted her up without her knowing but she liked it.

And I found it there in your heart
Isn't too hard to see

The sadness had been with her when she had gone to meet him again and it followed her wherever she went. When she was with Lucien, she realized that she was not alone and that she could be happy. That maybe something else other than pain was meant for her and he made her see things in a different light. She had been so tried of life when she met him and still she listened to him like he were the only thing that mattered to her.

Oh once in your life you find someone

When she is back in the nightmare, with the man that has been torturing her since the moment that she can remember herself, she realizes that there is nothing that she won't do to get back to him. And because if he is not there to rescue her, then she will have to do it on her own. She will have to save herself. She knows someone else had saved her in the past once before.
