Screams were always heard at night followed by blood on the ground the following morning. One day, it happened next to (Y/N)'s house. (Y/N) lived in a dangerous city on some mountains. Houses would be next to cliffs, people would walk right in your backyard... if you had one. Hearing drunk people singing outside wasn't strange. It got too dangerous for a place where children live. (Y/N) had lived there her whole 14 years of life. She was born there, raised there, and had been happy there. But in March there was fire. Fire in many houses. Blood on the streets. It was a war. Luckily for her, Her dad had led her out.

"Listen (y/n) there's no time, I have to stay," He said giving (y/n) a satchel with water, food, a blanket, and a piece of paper.

"What's the paper for?"

"That's a map to Alma Madrigal's village, she's an old friend of my family. you must not lose it. I know Colombia is a very long way from here, but you have to go there, it's the safest place I can think of. I'll get there. I'll go to you when things calm down here, but for now, it's too dangerous for you, so please leave. I packed you some tortillas and water and also a blanket to keep you warm,"

"Why can't you just come with me"

"Because they will follow" Her dad grabbed another brown blanket and put it around (y/n) he hugged her tightly.

"I love you ok, be safe, don't talk to strangers, If you see a suspicious person run."

"Ok."

"Remember how I thought you how to defend yourself with a tree branch?" (Your dad's name) was laughing silently in tears remembering all his memories with (y/n).

"Yes. Don't worry about me, We have gone there before. Well, only close to the mountains near there but I'll manage. Just.. don't die."

"I won't. Remember everything I thought you." And so, she left the city. Quietly. Making sure not a soul saw her.

When she was in a nearby town she made a stop. When she was younger she had taught herself how to pickpocket. Since her family lived in poverty, she learned how; although, she only did it in grave necessities. In this case, she was on the grave necessity. She was in a town where she knew no one, so she had to resort to stealing. She stole some food and some watches, hoping she could sell them. She grabbed some clothes as well; since she didn't have any other than the ones she was wearing. She got a yellow skirt with green flowers and a white ruffled blouse. She put them on the blanket and wrapped it; She used the fabric as a backpack for the extra food, clothes, and the watches she had stolen.

Day after day, (y/n) made nightly stops in each town she found. She stole a couple of things, sold some, got more food, and showered in shallow rivers she found. It became a routine. That's how it was for about 2 and a half weeks. Walking. Showering. Stopping. Eating. Stealing. Selling. She was tired. 'Last time we went to near Colombia it was for the Bazar of the Merchants, I don't remember walking there being this exhausting.' (Y/n) got lost in her mind. She was trying to have nice thoughts; Would she get to Alma Madrigal's Village, What kind of people would she meet? Would she have friends?

She walked subconsciously as she imagined her new life there. Before she was aware, she found another village, but this one was different. It seemed, dull. Empty. She could only see a few people. "Missing people" and "Wanted" posters could be seen around the walls, and empty alcohol bottles on the floor. She continued walking on the road.

She looked to both her sides and saw no one. A look to the left, and a look to the right. Then another to the left, there she saw an old lady right next to her staring into her eyes. Her skin was grey and wrinkly, her hair was barely black anymore and her teeth were stained.

"If going to Alma's village is what you want, know they have magic. So beware"

(Y/n) had no idea what the lady was saying but she did remember something. A word that was engraved in her head. Something her dad had told her "run." So she did. She ran until she had reached the end of the road. At the exit of the village. She turned around just to see the lady again. And so, the old woman spoke one last time.

"The Village is in within the mountains. Starting from here there is only forest and jungle, you should be careful."

"What?"

The woman remained quiet and walked away. (Y/n) left the town confused and curious 'Who's this lady? How did she know? What magic?' Thought like those invaded her head as she walked inside the jungle. Inside, where many rivers and small ponds, she took the opportunity and bathed in one of the rivers, it was more of a stream than a river though. Then, she changed her clothes into her new ones.

The distance felt relatively short. Before she had noticed, she got to the mountains. Those 2 who were very prominent on the map. They were like a reference point. "Between those mountains a village you'll find"That's what the map said. She walked until she reached a path. She put down her bag which weighed quite a bit since she couldn't sell everything, she had to keep some things. When she looked up she saw colorful houses, little children running around and.. a building being lifted by someone? A woman?

"That's- that's my imagination, right? No wait, the lady said there's magic. Well, I just can't walk up to her randomly. But wow, that's amazing." (Y/n) seemed to be talking to herself.

She grabbed her bag and started walking more inside the beautiful village. As she walked some tall, pale man stood next to her. He had neon green eyes and green clothing. She saw rats on his shoulders.
