Cintra~

My parents and I made our way to the platform, excitement bursting from everywhere within me. I couldn't wait to see my best friends, even if it has only been a couple of days. We met up with the Malfoys, my dad wasn't too fond of Lucius. They always told me that Narcissa was good company though.

"Hello Cintra, great to see you" Draco was always so formal around his dad. I could see why; he was a scary bloke. Hell, even Theo is scared of him. "Great to see you too" I said. Draco and I boarded the train, looking for the proper car. We had finally found it at the back of the train, the Slytherin car. It was full of older kids except for about seven of us. We were all first years, Theo, Pansy, Daphne, Astoria, Blaise, Draco, and me. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The train ride was long, but I had good company.

We had finally arrived at the school after a ten-hour train ride. I missed my parents; this was my first time knowing I'd be away from them for longer than a week. We got on the boats and went across the water. After, we made our way to the great hall to be sorted. I was anxious to say the least. It was hard not knowing what house you'd be in. I just hope that my friends love me all the same, no matter what.

First up was Draco, he obviously went into Slytherin automatically. The rest of my friends, excluding Blaise and I, all got sorted. It was just us and a few others left. "Cintra Renfri" the older witch called my name, and I took a breath for a beat. I walked up to the stool confidently, not showing the worry on my face. I sat and the hat started speaking to me "Ah yes, a Renfri. Not many of those left anymore. You can be great you know, but your heart is pure. A sweet girl indeed, but not quite tough enough. A lot like your mother in that aspect, but Slytherin gave her what she needed. A hint of darkness, a splash of cruelty, and I sense a sprinkle of natural ambition. Perhaps the same for you then, must be SLYTHERIN!". I got up grinning ear to ear, the whole table cheered for me. The other tables had nasty looks plastered on their faces. I didn't bother with them; I have my friends and that's all I needed.

Draco looked at me with a devilish grin, "So Cin, heard there's a welcome party tonight in the common room. Wanna come with me, I know it's fifth years and up, but I can pull a couple of strings". "Dray, I think I have a better idea than that" "What did you have in mind?" "There's a welcome carnival every year in the muggle world, to welcome new people in town" "Well, I'll go, but no rides for me. I lose my lunch anytime I go upside down" "I'll have to remember that" I said jokingly with a giggle.

I headed back to my dorm and got ready to floo with Draco to the carnival. A black rhinestone dress, carefully placed in the right spot. Makeup and hair were a breeze. Just a straightener and some mascara. Jewelry to match and a handbag chosen correctly. Draco's favorite brand, Givenchy, a black simple bag with a silver chain. This is the most strategically I have planned an outfit in years.

I headed to the common room, there I spotted Draco standing and waiting for me. "I didn't know we were dressing up, otherwise I would've put in more effort" he said while looking his absolute best. A black turtleneck, a pair of white dress pants and a black belt to match. He looked absolutely dashing, sweeping me off my own feet. For an eleven-year-old, he knew how to dress.

We went to my personal floo in my room and left the castle. As we arrived, the smell of fried food and the outdoors filled my nose. I missed the smell, it reminded me of a childhood I never had. We made our way over to the ticket booth and bought our tickets. "C'mon Draco, just a couple rides" "fine, but only because you're going to ride with me" "It's a deal"

We got on the first ride we saw, it was spinning and turning on all three arms. It went super-fast and looked incredibly fun. Muggle music playing in the background as we talked all night. Riding rides and eating and giggling. It felt like all of the problems in the world just flew away. Almost like we were the only two at the carnival. I felt alive, almost like my eyes had been opened for the first time ever. Born again in his steel gray eyes. I know we're young, but for the first time in a long time, I found home.

We took the floo back to Hogwarts, laughing the whole way to the dorms. As soon as we put in the password, muggle music flooded our ears. The smell of marijuana and alcohol on everyone's breathe. Bodies against each other, dancing in ways I never thought were possible. Draco pulled me into his room. "Cin, sit" "I'm not a dog Dray" "sorry I just wanted to talk" "I understand what about?" "today, it just felt so right going to that carnival. I feel like we're going to be best friends" "I think so too, Mr. Malfoy". He smiled down at me and tackled me onto the bed I was just sitting on. We laughed when something caught my eye. A shiny vial of liquid. I ignored it and went to my dorm and fell asleep.
