"CORRUPTION is a CANCER: a cancer that eats away at a citizen's FAITH in DEMOCRACY, diminishes the instinct for INNOVATION and CREATIVITY."

Politics is a procedure in which some groups of people utilize their power and impact to function in an organized way for mutual decision making. It is also considered as one of the biggest social issues as the maximum number of verdicts declared by the governments might not essentially help the poor people in the society. In fact, the leaders gratify their self-centred interests with the misuse of public funds. This is known as corruption.

Corruption is a social issue which includes the misuse of authority in public and private services for personal gains. India has very high rates of corruption. Politics and corruption play a crucial role in the backwardness in society and all other social evils. Though India is a developing nation on one hand, it is being pulled down on many other grounds due to corruption. Many ministers in the government use unfair means like booth capturing, rigging, bribery, money power and physical strength to supress voters and win elections. They even make false promises to remain in power but don't do anything for the benefit of the nation or its people. These corrupt ministers in power hardly take decisions for the poor and needy and work mainly in the benefit of them and their family members. Still, not all ministers are corrupt - only a few are. But these 'a few' ministers don't let the government work in a proper and systematic manner and create problems for it.

Looking into the problem of corruption has become a vital job now. We should try to minimize corruption, if not completely finish it, so that India becomes a more successful nation on which we all can feel even more proud than now. As I said in the beginning, corruption is a disease, and transparency is its one and only treatment. If the general public restrains from offering bribe, then truthfulness and transparency would prevail in the administration and corruption would reduce automatically. It requires a change from both the corrupted and the affected people.
