The blazing sirens roared through the back alleys and streets of the inner city.
It had started to commence once again as Adam darted towards the shelter
His adrenaline levels increased drastically as his heart pumped blood around his fragile body. The rations were very small and he had become very weak. He could not remember the last time he had tasted real food. The dreams of having a mouthful of succulent chicken salivated his mouth. It bought back memories of him coming home from school happily greeted by his mom who would have prepared his favourite meal. He then remembered the harsh reality he now lived in as he snapped out of what would forever remain a dream.
Would he make it on time? He had to, this could not be the end of him he thought to himself. He had much to see and too much to live for. He remembered the final words to his family, promising them that he would create a better life in the heart of France. Little did he know that he would come across such a twisted turn in his life. He felt as if his fate had been cursed. Tears raced across his cheek as they dropped on to the dusty pavement.
The entrance was in his sight and he started to feel safe already. All of a sudden the first bomb dropped and the destruction that followed was devastating. The poisonous gas that followed clouded the landscape behind him and he was now up against time. The battle started had become more intense but he was fixated on winning. This was dreadful and his people did not deserve such tremendous torture.
He believed this was the end of the world. He frantically panicked as he reached the entrance just in the nick of time.As he glanced across the ruins of what once was a beautiful horizon he could not bear the sight. The park where he once played with all his friends was nowhere to be seen and as the doors were about to close he heard a yell.
All of a sudden a little girl appeared from around the corner and called out
"Wait, don't close the door" she said.Adam struggled to keep it open as he had lost all his energy in his efforts to reach this safe haven and as she got closer his hands started to give up on him.
"Hurry, I can't hold on much longer" he cried.
She jumped for the
gap just as his hands let go and the door sealed shut.
But was he strong enough to seal her fate?
There was only one way to find out...
