Gears of War: Inside Hell

Tip of the Spear: Guardians.

Upon moving inside the hospital, Raptor moved to the second floor and was met with Delta on the opposite side of where they were. Kurt heard Tai call the the explosives planted in the middle of the courtyard. 

"Hold fire until they're right below us. We want to get as many in the courtyard as we can!" Marcus shouted from Delta's location. 

Kurt took in the information and nodded at April then Carmine as they nodded back knowing what to do. The doors at the end of the courtyard blew off from planted grenades form the Locust Grenadiers and they rushed in the courtyard. Kurt slowly put his Lancer on his back and took out his Sniper Rifle knowing that the round to detonate the explosive tanks in one hit.

The group of reptilian humanoids slowed down and stood right next to the tanks, oblivious to the explosives right next to them. Kurt slowly peeked over with the barrel of the rifle aiming at the tanks. From across the room, Marcus nodded at Kurt and Kurt did not hesitate to pull the trigger. To ensure the tanks blew up, Clayton and April fired at them which made the gas tanks explode, causing Locust body parts to fly up in the air as well as make their legs fall lifelessly.

"Good work guys." Kurt said to his team and to Delta from across the room. "Clayton, April. Delta is going to go down stairs. We're staying up here and cover them in the next open area, kill anything that's ugly. April, stop aiming your gun at me." Kurt explained as he gave a smirk and let out a soft chuckle as he finished his speech.

April smiled as she held back a giggle at Kurt's joke before they advanced to the next room being the second floor kitchen. Clayton was first to take cover followed by April as Kurt gave suppressing cover fire to make sure his two squad mates weren't in harm's way. Kurt then found a window to take cover behind a small dining table. It was too dangerous to poke his head up and aim so he just put his weapon over the top of his cover and fired blindly. The locust were persistent and accurate in their shots. They gave Raptor no windows to fight back. Kurt looked at April to see where she was.

"April, stay low and get to the canteen over there!" Kurt shouted as April giving him a pissed off look as if she said 'why me?' 

She did as she was told and Kurt snapped up as she drew the aggro of the gun fire to her and Kurt and Carmine used the window to decrease the Grub number. Kurt and Clayton kept firing their weapons aiming for the Drone's chests. The Locust then caught on that Kurt was their leader and focused fire on him and Carmine which then gave April the window she needed to fire on the Locust fire team to finish the numbers off, again aiming for their chests and her accuracy managed to hit their throats.

"Woo! See that, Kurt? Grub went face first into the salad!" April shouted to Kurt as she killed the last one. 

Kurt couldn't help but laugh as he looked over to find that she wasn't lying. A Locust Drone laying cold with no life with his head in the salad. 

"Alright, Raptor. Delta are probably already ahead, let's not fall behind." Kurt announced to April and Clayton as they advance through.

Kurt wasn't wrong. Delta were in the main reception fighting off waves of the Locust. They were still your every day Drones but there were too many. Raptor wasted no time firing their weapons down at the waves of enemies coming through the doors. Some even dropping as they come out the doors. 

"Thanks for the assist, Raptor. We'll hear from you in the hollow." Marcus shouted up to the team as they carried on with their mission. 

"Raptor? This is Anya. Come in!" Anya ordered down the radio.

"Sergeant Richardson reporting. What is it command?"

"We need reinforcements outside the hospital immediately!"

"Roger that, command. Raptor out." Richard said as he took out the empty magazine from his modded Mark one Lancer and walked to the second floor exit.

When walk through the corridor to exit the building, he noticed Sarah ducking behind the shut doors. 

"What are you doing here Private?" Richard asked as Sarah panicked.

"There's Grubs just outside, sir!"

"So why aren't you out there, fighting?" Richard asked again with a low patience tone as Sarah began to reload her weapon.

"uhh... Reloading... I haven't got that down yet, sir..."

"Learn quick, Private..." Kurt said as he watched Sarah open the doors.

Immediately, a Gear's head exploded into a blood fountain as Raptor entered the battle ground.

"Keep your heads down and use cover! Hit them when you see that opening!" Kurt shouted as he changed from his Lancer to his Sniper. "Clayton, try and draw that sniper fire!" Kurt ordered.

Clayton nodded as he ran and rolled out in the open picking cover as Kurt held to the far end of the battle field as Sarah stayed close to April. Once the sniper took his shot at Clayton, missing, Kurt saw where he was. He ordered Clayton to stay where he was and stay down until Kurt said so. After he had time reloading, the Locust sniper popped up his head and scanned the battlefield for his target. 

"Gotcha..."

Kurt pulled the cold trigger of his Sniper Rifle as the round he fired went through the enemy's scope and into it's eye. The round caused the head to explode into a fountain of blood like the Gear it shot before collapsing from it's sheer weight. 

"Damn it... When will these guys fuck off?!" April shouted as she shot down any Locust that was targeting the COG Gears on the opposite side quickly adapting to Kurt's strategy from in the kitchen. 

The battle was rough and all that was heard was muffled shouts of commands and screams of pain under the gunshots of everyone's assault rifles. Kurt looked at Sarah noticing that she was doing well on her own and having a good kill count. The ground started to shake and a two meter hole started to open. 

"E-Hole!" Shouted one of the Gears.

"Plug that hole!" Shouted Kurt as Clayton took out his grenade and threw it into the hole. 

The grenade exploded killing three Locust but acted too slow to stop the five that made it up. At least it stopped any reinforcements coming up. They were out numbered as it was. The battle went on and on and on for hours until Delta finally showed up to help after they had driven the Locust out of the hospital. Kurt saw a small window to advance closer to the Locust which were now cornered. 

"Push forward, Raptor! We got 'em on the run!" Kurt shouted as he charged at the front locust.

The Locust panicked and was unable to shoot straight at Kurt and before long, it's stomach was met with Kurt's Bayonet of his rifle, impaling the Grub. Using the dying body as a meat shield, Kurt pulled out his Boltok Pistol, which he stole from a Locust before hand and fired at the large group headshot after headshot. He was soon met with his three squad members shooting at the now retreating Drones. 

"Yeah! Run you ugly bastards!" April shouted as Kurt and Clayton stopped firing and shortly followed Sarah. And eventually April after she was satisfied. 

Kurt nodded at Marcus after Kurt saw he was finished talking to Dom. He then turned to Sarah and said with a smile. 

"Hey, rookie. On your first day that wasn't bad." 

"Uh.. T-Thank you, sir." Sarah stuttered as she started to feel good about herself.

Kurt then went over to April and held her should as she was reloading. "You alright, April. You had a moment there." He asked with a worried look on his face.

April did nothing but nodded as the group listened to Anya and waited for a Raven Helicopter to pick them up.
