*I do not own the owl House. That belongs to Disney. Also none of the images are mine, just use them for entertaiment. Enjoy :)
The sun shone through the curtains, signallign the start of a new day. Today was the day that Luz and I started Hexside; she as a student and me as a teacher. I grabbed the dress that Belos had given me a little while ago. Putting it on, I was a little surprised at how well it fit. "How does he know my size?" I asked no in particular.
A knock came at the door. "Um, Kaia?" It was Luz. "Come in." Luz opened the door. "Whoa, Kaia, you look really good." I smiled at her but then noticed how pale she was "Nervous Luz?" I asked with a smile. She gulped and nodded and sat down on my bed. "Don't worry, Luz. You'll do fine and you can always come to me if you have problems." I placed a hand on her shoulder and gave her a reassuring look. Suddenly I smelt something...something was burning. "Do you smell that?" A loud yelp echoed through the house. I sighed and shook my head. "Eda." Eda was trying to cook again. "Come on, let's get down stairs before Eda burns the house down."
We headed down to the kitchen to see Eda trying to cook breakfast and failing, I coughed to get her attention. Eda jumped and turned around. "Kaia, Luz! I was...uh...." She trailed off, looking at the mess that was the kitchen. I drew a spell circle and banished the mess. "Go Eda, I'll make breakfast." Eda pouted at me. "I was trying to surprise you guys by making breakfast." Placing my hands on her shoulders. "Edalyn, trust that I say this from a place of love...but your cooking will kill us." "It won't!" I quirked a brow at her. "Remember when you tried to cook dinner for my birthday last year." Eda went pale as she recalled the event. "Yes, I thought so. Now shoo, out of my kitchen." I shooed her away with my hand and began to prepare breakfast.
Hexside school entrance exams: back stage.
Luz stood between me and Eda as she held a light glyph. "I-I'm not ready for this guys. Maybe we should go back." Luz was really nervous. "Nah kid, you got this, just do what Kaia and I taught you." "But what if...what if I mess something up? Or what if I do something wrong?" She gasped. "What if I die?" I chuckled at her dramatics. "Luz, you won't die. Everything will be fine. Just believe in yourself and do your best." Eda nodded. "Yes, calm down kid. Kaia and I had to do the same thing when we were witchlings. It's like a rite of passage. Granted, we were a little more skilled." I elbowed Eda. "Oomph...right, sorry kid. Now, get pumped." Eda tried to be encouraging. "Pumped!" "Just do your best, Luz." I smiled at her and mentioned for her to go on stage. "You think the kid will be okay?" I looked at Eda who looked very nervous. "Eda, she'll do fine."

Luz gripped her training wand as she waited for the curtains to open. She took a deep breath and tried to go over what she knew. The curtains opened and Luz stepped forward, wearing a dark cloak and holding onto the training. Principle Bump was the only one sitting in the audience, holding onto a clipboard. Principle Bump gave Luz a once over. "Right, the human who wants to be a witch. Against my better judgement, I've allowed you to take this exam. But can you even do magic with all your...human parts?" Luz nodded. "I sure can." she opened her fanny pack and pulled the glyph spells she had prepared in advance. Principle Bump looked interested. "Spells cast with paper? I've never heard of such a thing...hmm...that wand looks familiar." Luz took another deep and threw the ice glyph papers on the floor and made several motions with her wand, just like Kaia had taught her. Kaia had been thorough in explaining that while Luz couldn't use that wand like normal witches did, she could still direct the magic of the glyphs with them. She pointed her wand at the piece of paper on the floor and they started glowing. Ice started forming on the floor and taking shape. Sweat ran down Luz's forehead as she found it very difficult to direct magic this way. Eda and Kaia told her that it become easier the more she practiced with the wand.
