~chapter 1: it can't be fate~
~NIKI'S POV~
My thoughts were cut off by someone yelling into the mic. Nari...
~NARI POV~
After I introduced us, I went and sat down by the drums. It's gonna be a long day of performing. I have to do the drums, then play the guitar, then SING. As long as I don't screw up, it'll all be fine.
~~~
FINALLY! We're done performing, it's the next band's turn. Since it's a festival, I go to get some food.
After having an argument in my head of what sounds good, I finally decided on japchae. (I'm really craving japchae right now sorry lol)
(bruh it looks so good 😔 whys the pic so big tho ._.)
As I was eating, one of my band members came to me.
"Hey, Nari! You did awesome!" Dalji, the guitarist, said to me.
"Ah, thank you! You did awesome, as well!"
"Thank you! Enjoy your food."
"I will, enjoy your time at the festival, Dalji." He walked away and I continued eating my food.
~~~
When I was finished eating, I go throw the plasticware away.
Someone walked up to me as I was doing so.
"Nari, is it?" A random person asked.
"Um yes. Have I met you?"
"Not until now. I'm Niki. Nice to meet you," he responded, putting his hand out for me to shake. I shook it, and we talked for a while.
~~~
"Where'd you get your name from?" He asked me.
"My aunt named me. She said it was because when my mom went into labor and she was called into the hospital, she was in a meadow of lilies. Pretty ironic right?" I answered. My name means "lily", like the flower, in Korean.
"Ah... interesting."
"Why do you ask?" I turned my head to him.
"Well, my mom loved lilies-"
"Oh, hey Riki!" Someone said and wrapped their arms around me. I immediately recognized it as my boyfriend, Lee Miro.
"Don't call me that. You know that you've never had permission to call me that," Niki answered, his expression going cold.
"Ah... it seems you guys know each other." I looked at both of them; Miro was giving Niki this really intimidating stare and Niki was not breaking the eye contact. Miro walked to Niki and pushed him down.
"LEE MIRO!"
"Nari, I have to talk to you," Miro said, pulling me aside.
"Yah, what was that all about?!" I said, angry.
"Why the hell were you talking to him?! I don't want you talking to him, ever."
"YAH! YOU CAN'T DECIDE THAT, ASSHOLE!" I was fine with him being a little protective. But this is where I cross the line. He knows this; I hate when people try to set my boundaries for me.
"Please? For me, baby," he said, wrapping his arms around my waist.
I immediately slapped his hands off me. "DON'T TOUCH ME! Don't call me baby. You just caused a scene OVER NOTHING! Don't set my boundaries. I'll talk to who I wanna talk to," I said, with anger written all over my voice.
"Nari-ah, I just don't get good vibes from him, you know? He doesn't seem like a good person."
"YOU KNOW HIM WELL AND I COULD TELL! (bars? 😳) Don't try to tell me he doesn't seem like a good person. We had been talking for a while before that and he seems like a better person than you. I'm done with your ass. We're breaking up, right here, right now. I've had enough!" I tried to storm away but he grabbed my arm.
"W-wait, baby-"
"I SAID DON'T CALL ME BABY! Now I'm going to check up on Niki, don't try to even get close to me," I said, running out of the alley he took me to. Miro had been toxic for most of our relationship. I was blind for not seeing it.
When I get out of the alley, I see people crowding someone.
Niki.
"What's the problem here? Back off." I helped him up and shooed everyone away from him. "Is everything alright?"
"Yeah, I'm fine, thank you. Doesn't your boyfriend want you away from me, though?"
"I don't give a shit. He's my ex now, anyways. He was never able to decide who I'm allowed to talk to and who I'm not allowed to talk to. I don't know where he decided he was able to tell me that bullshit, but I broke up with his ass! HA! Sucker."
Niki just laughed.
"Sorry." I chuckled. I just spewed nonsense to a stranger.
"It's okay. How'd it feel?"
"I FELT SO COOL! I was mad, sure, but HA I'M FREE. That asshole never deserved me anyways." I flipped my hair jokingly, while Niki was just staring at me. "Sorry, there I go again. Aish I should shut up. Oh, earlier, what were you gonna say before that asshole rudely interrupted us without consent?"
He laughed. "It's okay, don't shut up. I was gonna say... um... my mom. She really liked lilies, so it reminded me of her. Her face would light up every time she saw one. She'd tell me to go pick the biggest one so we could put it in a vase for her."
"She sounds nice!" I exclaimed. I love lilies, too, and I love my name because of it.
I saw his smile fade. "Yeah... anyways, I should probably go. My grandmother is probably waiting for me."
"Oh, okay. Bye!" I yelled, 'cause he was already walking away when I said it. I see him bump into someone.
~NIKI'S POV~
As I was walking, I bumped into someone.
"I'm so sorry!" The guy said.
"It's fine," I answered, a bit cold. I continued to walk away.
~~~
When I get home and go up to my room, I think about her again. Nari... it can't be a coincidence. No, it is all just a huge coincidence. I'm going crazy. It can't be fate. Fate's stupid and doesn't exist. Right?
~to be continued~
ACK IT TOOK SO LONG TO FINISH THIS CHAPTER. well, i hope it was worth it. anyways, this plotline's gon get a little crazy and maybe confusing but we'll see. lub you, bye!
