Chapter 5: It's finally bedtime... oy vey!

The only one not in shock or confused is Void, who is still giggling. Erratum looked at Granny in confusion who returned it with a look of shock and worry. Null looked back and forth between the two before looking at me in confusion. I guess that's my cue.
"Erratum, can you spit the spoon out? Please?" He just stared in confusion before swishing it in his mouth and spitting it out. "Ok, good, now why and how?"
"It usually dissolves in my mouth immediately. Why didn't it happen this time?" That's what he's confused about?!
"Spoons don't do that, metal spoons especially." The spoon is cut clean through. How?! "Swallowing that is very hazardous in way too many ways. Is there any chance you could avoid doing that in the future?" He's still confused looking at the spoon's remains. "Please don't try it again. I don't think we have enough spoons for you to try it again." I was joking with that last bit, but the way he's nodding tells me that he's taking me seriously.
That's not concerning at all. Granny just went and got him a new spoon in disbelief. He takes extra care now as he takes his next bite. I felt a tiny hand patting my arm which reminded me that I have a baby in my lap to feed.

Later at cookie time.
Thank goodness nothing else happened at dinner. Aside from talking and eating that is. They were able to eat everything in their bowls and Null really liked the sandwiches. I will definitely have to make that for lunch tomorrow.
Granny is in the kitchen with the cookies in the oven. Her making cookies was more mesmerizing for the boys than the TV was, for Erratum especially. The radio plays softly in the background with Granny slightly dancing along while mixing.
Just a usual Tuesday evening with a few addons.
"(Y/N), the chocolate chips melted a little." Dang it! How did that happen? Oh, yeah.
"Sorry, Granny. The car was off when I found these guys. I'll make sure they're closer to the frozen groceries next time." No regrets until I hear what her punishment is, then only a little regret.
"It's all right, they only melted a little. Not as much as they will in the oven." And I dodged a bullet. Though I didn't miss the rolling of her eyes as I gave an over exaggerated sigh of relief.
She quickly put the fully mixed cookie dough on to the pan then into the oven. Setting the timer, she grabbed the cooling racks while I grabbed a few spoons. Just another playful glare as I offer her her usual first-spoon-of-cookie-dough tribute from the bowl. She took it and started eating it as I served the others theirs. As I finally bite into my own I see confused understanding in the father and son as they bite into theirs. I gave Void a small ball of it instead of a spoon; we're either gonna have to dig out our baby stuff or buy new ones.
I swear literal stars appeared in Null's eyes after he took a bite.
"What this?" He was jumping a little along with Void, showing how much they're enjoying it. Null is very inquisitive in such an adorable way.
"This," I held up my own spoon like you would in a presentation, "is cookie dough. The final step before baking when all the ingredients are combined to create the incredible treat known as cookies. People might say it's dangerous to eat it like this, but I say those worrywarts are missing out. If you prepare it right, then there is no reason you should get sick from it." I took a quick bite, enjoying the crunch from the chocolate chips before continuing. "Granny always puts extra love and care into preparing the cookies to eat whether it's baked or not. Not to mention it's a nice treat to have while waiting for the cookies to bake." It's an interesting answer, I know, but Null accepted it and bit into it again, thoroughly enjoying it. Void was enjoying playing with his while gnawing on it occasionally. Erratum looked a bit incredulous before biting into his, instantly melting in satisfaction.
Granny just rolled her eyes as she put her spoon in the sink. She laid out the wire racks  before prepping another pan to put in the oven. Tonight's cookies will taste sweeter for sure.

Erratum's pov.
Okay, I'll agree that Granny's cookies are the best I've ever had. Not that I've ever had the time to enjoy them like we did tonight. Never would have guessed that you can eat it before you bake it, I wonder if Horror knows.
Horror….
I'm so sorry, you guys. I left you all to die because I wasn't strong enough.
I'm sorry.
A slight wiggle on my chest pulled me from my thoughts. Void was asleep on my chest while Null was curled into my side on the bed. (Y/N) showed us to this room after we had the cookies. A full sized bed in the corner, a desk on the opposite wall with a chair to go with it, and a lounge chair in the corner opposite the bed. There was a door to a walk-in closet by the desk. There's still a lot more room for more, but it's got what others consider to be the basics.
Alright, focus. One thing at a time. Right now, I need answers.
And with that, I summoned my soul. Such an ugly, broken thing. Yellow, blue, ripping apart at the seams, yet still held together by string. Though it's not as broken as before. Where it was torn is now brought back together, forming a scar, the smaller rips completely gone, the string acting more like decoration at this point. When did that happen?
A quick glance downward gave me at least a timeframe for when it started. From here, I was able to open my character screen. I heard that it's similar to video games, but for me, it's life. And apparently, life recently became less glitched up.

Erratum, Ex-forced God of Destruction, father of Null and Void Miscalculation, child of Destiny, Void blessed.

Can't eat silverware anymore

That's definitely new, though I don't know why that last part is emphasized. What really is getting through to me is being free and…
"I'm mortal?"

(Author's note)
Surprise, I didn't forget this! I just have trouble finding motivation to write, or have to many ideas to write. Be excited for that second part since many of those ideas are for this book and it's future sister.
Still don't know when I'll start posting that one, probably after I finish chapter 2.
Stay tuned!
